Covid Vaccine Booster? Has anyone gotten the booster yet? (Moderna and J&J just got approved in our state) I got Moderna six months ago and wondering where everyone’s head is at?

I'm getting my 3rd Moderna tomorrow. I had no reaction to the first 2 (other than a slightly sore arm.) If I had a strong reaction to the 2nd dose I'd probably opt for getting a Pfizer booster, but since it was no big deal and Moderna seems to be the most effective I'll go for round 3 with them.

I got Moderna in Feb and March and I got my booster yesterday afternoon. Injection site is a little sore but no other side effects. When I got my first dose, I had no effects at all - I wondered if I even got the shot or just a placebo, lol. With my second my arm was sore and I was tired the next day and that was it. I know how vaccines work and I was pretty sure when this was developed that a booster would be necessary and I was eager to get it. My husband has an appointment next week and my college age daughter, who originally had J&J, is getting a Moderna booster as soon as her soccer season is over. My son got Pfizer and it hasn't been six months yet, so he's not eligible for a booster but will get one when he is.

Not sure why you're telling anyone not to post on this thread. The original post is asking us what we think about the booster and Pro answered the question.

They are rewriting what “fully vaccinated” definition will mean in relation to boosters. If it means yearly, will people still continue to do this so willingly? School immunizations only were a one and done situation 🤔 My head:

Agree that most vaccines are one and done (with perhaps a booster after 10 or more years. I'm speaking as one who is fully vaccinated for Covid and highly doubt that the majority are going to be willing to take a yearly Covid vaccine. Flu shots are yearly, but not required. I work with young children and have had the flu once in the past 25 years of teaching - and have had only one flu shot during that time.

I have been curious about break through cases. If the fully vaccinated can still get covid and spread it. Why aren't they required to test weekly..like the unvaccinated?

like

I got the Moderna booster yesterday. Teachers at my (unmasked) school are getting breakthrough cases the last couple of months, and one got pneumonia. Several large-scale studies show unnmasked schools spread the virus more, and efficacy of vaccines wanes after six months (refer to the Israeli studies). My husband died of COVID and I was the one there to take him off the ventilator. I'll take any preventative measure available to me to decrease the liklihood of making my daughters orphans.

Our district is fully masked and has many cases..

I got the first 2 from Moderna- I was sick as a dog for 3 straights days, now, I refuse to get a booster.

Ny just approved it and am scheduling my moderna booster today.

Sorry, got my 2nd dose in March.

I won't be getting the booster. I got Pfizer, was super dizzy to the point of not being able to sit up on my own after the first shot and had an even worse reaction after the second shot. (Extreme pain everywhere within 24 hrs that lasted 3-4 days. It was so bad that even trying to hold a stair handrail or having my 2yr old son put his hand on my thigh would send excruciating pain shooting through). After having that kind of reaction and now being pregnant too, I'm not risking it.

I got my Pfizer booster. No problems at all. The microchips sometimes cause my internet to go out when I get too close to the router, though. (Just kidding on the microchips..,)

funny

Nope. I’m done with the vax.

I will get it as soon as I am able to. I got the Moderna shot, and I am ready for round 3.

Got my Moderna booster a week ago. I only had a sore arm for a couple days. For reference, my first dose in Feb resulted in a sore arm and my 2nd dose in March resulted in a sore arm and fatigue (first nap in YEARS). Everyone's reaction to the shot is different, but I'd much rather go through even a few days of feeling like garbage than have the higher risk of getting a severe infection with COVID followed by long haul symptoms and I really don't want to spread it to my three unvaccinated kids. I know you can get it and spread it when vaccinated, but studies show that chances are greatly decreased and the disease severity is typically, although not always, decreased as well if you get infected.

I had the same reaction with moderna. Hoping my booster is just as easy!!

I got the Moderna booster back in August. I was able to do so as I am immunocompromised. No problems with it other than a sore arm for a day.

like

No, I was willing to get the first two Moderna doses, but I'm not going to get endless boosters.

I haven’t yet! I’m not even sure if it’s available in my state for teachers yet! I will once I know more people who have so I can see if I’ll need to take a day off after or not! Based on the number of unvaccinated adults in the town where I work I want to get mine soon!

It’s approved for teachers on a national level, so you can technically get it if you want it.

I have no idea as far as Virginia is concerned. I am so focused on work and extra duties that booster are a distant sound I might hear about now and again.

You can get it if you want it now.

I got the Pfizer Covid booster.

Well let’s hope you didn’t get the placebo lol. The only people that were getting placebos were during the clinical trials! Glad to hear about moderna booster shot though. Please keep me updated!

I just found out that the person I was with last year is with someone new. We were separated because of distance/covid. It just makes me sad because I feel that covid took away the opportunity for us to be together and further develop the connection that we had. It was unique and hard to find. So much has changed. I’ll get over it and if we aren’t going to be together then I am sure it’s for the best. Just feeling this heaviness today.
