COVID WFH has put me several time zones away from my client (I’m further west and their culture is to start the day early anyway). It’s a new project so I don’t have relationships built up. How much pushback on morning meetings is reasonable? I know the project can’t operate totally around me but these start times aren’t sustainable...

I’m in a similar position and we pushed back to the point we defined a prime time to book meetings where people in every time zone can participate. It’s unreasonable to think people can deliver without adhering to their timezones. Pushback.

4 or 5am my time (we’re 3hrs apart)

I feel like 6am your time is reasonable. I don’t like meetings before 9am even in my own timezone

like

Log off at 2 or 3 pm your time if you’re having to wake up for 6 am calls everyday

I’d push back on anything before 7am- but that’s assuming you’re normally west coast based and your new team is aware. If you’re intended to be east coast and are normally staffed regionally, I’d personally feel awkward pushing back unless I had some arrangement worked out with my firm on why I needed to be in a completely different time zone. I’m saying all this because if time zone is an issue, they could hate staffed someone from the east coast vs. assuming they already were.

like

If you’re only dealing with two time zones, you should def be able to push back. It gets tricky when you have to coordinate with US + Europe + Asia, and then really just have no alternate

like

Are you based on the west coast (meaning they staffed you knowing that you are operating on the west time zone with the client in east coast?), or, did you move there temporarily (unofficially) due to COVID?

like

How early are they asking?

I have the same problem right now. I don't know if I can sustain the 6 am start daily to 9-10 pm. If travel is dead even after 2Q21 then I need to start helping my MU find me a project in my timezone!!!

You should check the contract. There may be working hours in it. I don’t think it’s unusual to work the client’s hours. However you can ask to start at whatever time. We are consultants as a reminder. My staff who are west coast work east coast hours.

You should do your job on the clients’ schedule. Clients first. Always.

I was living here before the project started, but there weren’t really other staffing options when building this team so location didn’t play a factor. Planning on pushing back til 6am and seeing how it goes. Thanks!

Why won’t ethnic so called groups come together and be Human for the good of ALL? Study history and no one can play the slavery, discrimination, removal from homelands, genocide card! From the beginning every ethnic cultural group has suffered them all. I can tell you that having worked on a local and national project to bring these groups together it is the adults that reject unity in favor of their special interest. Not so true of our students who are more accepting.

Anyone can provide me guidance how is the organization AppviewX? Says a product based company, role is customer success Project Manager. My year of experience is 11 years and working with TCS.

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.

What do you do when small local firms won’t give your resume the time of day, but everyone you ask for resume feedback on says your materials are fine? These aren’t big law or boutiques, we’re talking probably paying $20-30 an hour part time as an associate with firms of 1-3 attorneys generally. I know biglaw is recovering from COVID but has it really hurt small law so badly getting an interview is next to impossible? Any and every practice area. Work is work. We are currently building the plan for the hybrid model we will follow mid October. (No specific date yet.) We have committed to an A/B model with groups attending MT and Th/F in person, working remotely the other three days. If you have an AB model do you deliver the same content to your students each day, regardless of them being remote or in person? Or is the lesson cycle one that begins on the first day you teach in person for each group? This second model seems complicated.
