The newest Cravath partners are class of 2015

like

Yep, there’s no more associate class of 2015 at Cravath. The 2016 class is now the most senior class

like

There was never a 2015 class. Never heard of 'em.

Their memo says that lawyers of more senior class years are determined individually. Presumably in line with what other firms do for lawyers at the same levels.

15+ years experience in Forensic Accounting. What would be considered fair pay in the NYC area? Average yearly Billings was 2,500, however recently took over the building out of systems, training younger staff, more marketing in a set region; basically more non billable work.

Apologies if questions sound ignorant lol. I've taken CPA abroad and it didnt have a written communications portion to it so this is all new to me. My concern is not knowing how to write, but what to write if i forget parts of the expected answer.

Thanks for any insight!

Does anyone work at a firm that does not offer year-end bonuses? I’m currently at a 25-50 person firm in a major market (CA) that mostly operates on big contingency cases. There were firm-wide paycuts at the beginning of Covid (still in effect). I’ve billed in excess of 2,000 hours and am feeling both cheated and a real lack of motivation.

Anyone else experience anything like this? Recommendations (other than leaving)?

3rd year associate looking to make a move after being at my firm for 2 years. I am in ID and unfortunately have not had much experience with dispositive motion practice and I do not have any cases that will see motion practice for quite some time. The bulk of my writing are status reports to the carrier with minimal legal analysis. I’ve done one mediation. What are some examples of writing samples that firms are looking for? How can I turn this negative into a positive? TIA!

To experienced attorneys at large employers, has anyone tried starting a small side practice in a different area of law (wills & trusts, for example) and succeeded in building it out over time? Notwithstanding my present employer being happy/okay with this, curious as to the feasibility when I have no real experience in the practice area.
Would like a separate law-related side hustle to potentially build into my full time work down the road. Thanks.

The main partner I work for is constantly trying to set “legal traps” to see if I fall into them. For example, he ask me a specific legal question (to which he already knows the answer) to see if I am able to deliver. I’m so nervous now (this has been going on for over a year) that I often end up falling into his trap by doing (stupid) mistakes. What do you advise me to do? My self confidence is slowly getting destroyed. This does not happen with other partners.
