15+ years experience in Forensic Accounting. What would be considered fair pay in the NYC area? Average yearly Billings was 2,500, however recently took over the building out of systems, training younger staff, more marketing in a set region; basically more non billable work.
How is the BEC being graded? Is structure/grammar more important than content? Is it 50/50? Also, is it graded by a computer?
Apologies if questions sound ignorant lol. I've taken CPA abroad and it didnt have a written communications portion to it so this is all new to me. My concern is not knowing how to write, but what to write if i forget parts of the expected answer.
Thanks for any insight!

What jobs could I look into for furthering my insurance career? I am currently an agent team member and I feel like I’m busy but not challenged enough to stay content. I am KY licensed for P&C and L&H. I don’t want to open an agency. I make $13 an hour so pretty much anything would be better . I’ve been a licensed team member for 2 years and counting. I don’t currently receive any benefits but I NEED them. I do not have any college degrees. I prefer working for State Farm but am open to options

Can anyone think of a reason to NOT negotiate salary, if you already want the job and the salary seems sufficient. Many people say “ALWAYS negotiate” but there have to be downsides, right?
I’ve officially purchased my first luxury bag...I put in a reserve order for a speedy 35 from LV and I absolutely can’t wait for it to ship! Anyone else have experience with how long advanced orders take to ship? Or just have speedy love stories?
Just moved to Miami, early 30s M. How did you start meeting people other than at work? Worth it to join a social club?
Hi ladies. My 10 year old daughter has ADHD and ODD. We are going to need to start medicine for her because these illnesses are affecting her way of life. She gets so mad at the thought of taking medicine that she believes will change her brain. Any tips on how to talk to your daughter about something like this? I don’t want to lie and call them “vitamins”, but it’s so hard when she gets so mad or defiant. Any tips from mommas that have gone through this with their kids?

Does anyone know of recruiting firms with a focus on Anti-money laundering? I’m foreign educated and newly admitted NY attorney with CAMS certification but living in Miami lol. I’m here, because my husband practices in SoFlo. Any recommendations? I don’t have any experience but have CAMS.
Does anyone work at a firm that does not offer year-end bonuses? I’m currently at a 25-50 person firm in a major market (CA) that mostly operates on big contingency cases. There were firm-wide paycuts at the beginning of Covid (still in effect). I’ve billed in excess of 2,000 hours and am feeling both cheated and a real lack of motivation.
Anyone else experience anything like this? Recommendations (other than leaving)?
Curious about demand for US-trained lawyers in the UK. Anyone have any insight on making the move? What practice areas/seniority levels are in demand, best ways to go about finding openings, etc?
3rd year associate looking to make a move after being at my firm for 2 years. I am in ID and unfortunately have not had much experience with dispositive motion practice and I do not have any cases that will see motion practice for quite some time. The bulk of my writing are status reports to the carrier with minimal legal analysis. I’ve done one mediation. What are some examples of writing samples that firms are looking for? How can I turn this negative into a positive? TIA!
Is it normal to feel guilty when there’s a lull? How do you guys recommend filling the time?
I’m interested in taking on a Pro Bono case through a nonprofit org, so should I disclose that I’m taking the case to my current employer (in house)? The case has no overlap with the field my company is in and I’ll be doing the work off the clock.
To experienced attorneys at large employers, has anyone tried starting a small side practice in a different area of law (wills & trusts, for example) and succeeded in building it out over time? Notwithstanding my present employer being happy/okay with this, curious as to the feasibility when I have no real experience in the practice area.
Would like a separate law-related side hustle to potentially build into my full time work down the road. Thanks.
Do you ever have a hard time doing good work for a particular client? I work with a client that has crazy deadlines, is disorganized and is constantly changing the deal. On top of all that, they’re rude. I feel like my work product isn’t up to my own expectations because I dread any email from them.
I'm not a litigator, but I've been working on a litigation matter. Big bucks partners circulated a brief - including to clients - and requested comments. There are many ticky tack comma errors. Fix?
I have practiced law for several years and still struggle with the feast-or-famine nature of my practice. (Sudden rush of client outreach, many emergencies, then … nothing). A famine week might be 3-4 billable hours/day. My practice area does not have a predictable annual cycle, like “year end” or “tax day.” Any tips from other attorneys for how to recognize, predict, and/or even out these periods?
The main partner I work for is constantly trying to set “legal traps” to see if I fall into them. For example, he ask me a specific legal question (to which he already knows the answer) to see if I am able to deliver. I’m so nervous now (this has been going on for over a year) that I often end up falling into his trap by doing (stupid) mistakes. What do you advise me to do? My self confidence is slowly getting destroyed. This does not happen with other partners.
What large firms will do contingent plaintiff's work? I know several "complex" fields (i.e. patent litigation, securities class action, antitrust, etc.) still have a market for contingent work.
Considering getting my nose pierced. It would be a really tiny gold stud, nothing bulky or sparkly. What are the chances this will impact my career…I’m 30, female, and a personal injury lawyer. Been wanting to do this for awhile, thought it would make me look unprofessional. But now I’m thinking life is short and no one would really care. Thoughts?
Anyone have intel on Nixon Peabody in DC?
I want to get out of ID so badly. I don’t mind the work but the hours are just killing me. I just started at a new firm less than 6 months ago and I am already desperate to get out. It is not the firm or the people. I just hate the high billables. I have been applying to other jobs but I think I may need a recruiter for help. Any recommendation for a great recruiter in NYC?
Tax lawyer considering expanding practice from transactional tax to tax controversy. Thoughts, Especially in light of the economy? Would this increase my marketability down the line?
Any thoughts on Phillips Lytle? If you could please provide insight on culture/billable requirements? Thank you.

There are no class of 2015 associates in Ba Sing Se
The newest Cravath partners are class of 2015
Yep, there’s no more associate class of 2015 at Cravath. The 2016 class is now the most senior class
There was never a 2015 class. Never heard of 'em.
Their memo says that lawyers of more senior class years are determined individually. Presumably in line with what other firms do for lawyers at the same levels.
