An alum from my college found me on LinkedIn. Never knew him in school (he’s several years older) and he seems to hop around sales roles for vendors tangentially related to my work. He hit me up on LI three times last month and sent a sales deck I replied to with “thanks I’ll be in touch if I need your help.” Now he somehow got my email and sent me three emails in the last 8 days wanting meetings. Brush him off and hope I never need his company or just keep ignoring?

My company currently has no employee recognition whatsoever besides rather low annual raises. Ideas on what could be implemented on a monthly/quarterly basis to boost the morale among those where pay is not the only thing that matters?

I am doing relatively well in my firm, and have been told to apply for promotion to senior assoc (1 year ahead of peers). However I have been feeling burnt out and am unsure whether I want to be doing law in 20 years’ time. My wife wants me to quit private practice and I have an opportunity to go in house. However I am concerned that if I go in house, future remuneration will suffer and I may not be suitably challenged. Any thoughts?

Notice question. Can a partner ask you to defer leaving till a particular deal is closed etc, beyond your 2 weeks notice? Even if they can how badly will you burn bridges or ruin relationships by politely declining?

When should I start to get worried that corporate is so slow? Have only billed 230 hours for the year so far and it doesn’t seem like things are picking up soon so getting nervous since my firm has a billable hours minimum requirement.

I averaged 250+ billables for Q1. Took a vacation in April and since being back, work has been pretty chill (~35/week) and I havent taken any new work. However, I am finding myself not very productive and the smallest things are taking me way longer than they should. Cant get myself to do these things but then that makes me anxious. Feeling stuck. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation and what did you do? I’m a junior associate in corporate.
