During my mid year review, my manager asked if I feel like I’m a fit for corporate America because I’m so “different” and that “corporate America isn’t for everyone.” How would you respond?
M&A M2 at Tier 2 firm. Is Corp Dev a pretty realistic target? Have done DD, PMI and growth strat work. Thoughts? Comfortable with picking up basics of valuation & modeling via Wall Street Prep
I am currently a Junior Engineer with 5 years experience, I have been with the same company for 3 years now. I have my yearly review coming up and was asked to present a raise I desire. I feel my company underpays their employees but was wondering what the average salary is for someone in my position. My company has also mentioned wanting me to shift into the environmental engineering world which is where my strengths are
Do you feel ZS is good enough for exit options?
I am a Family Nurse practitioner with years of clinical experience. I als have spent time working in: Quality Assurance for CMS surveys, Post Acute Care and Readmission prevention and teaching BSN programs. I would love to get into consulting in a WFH position. There’s vermouth in the house again, which means Rob Roys for today’s jazzy cocktail hour!
I’m getting sick of getting a brief and asked to create a cool new campaign with amazing designs in less than a day. My best work isn’t turned around in less than 24 hours. And for background, I have pushed back literally every time. Nothing seems to be getting better.
Good day everyone,
I'm a recent grad who landed in Canada with a small dream of becoming a human resource professional and work in corporate sector.
I'm trying to land on a job from last 10 months, after applying to 100s of jobs, been on so many interviews I am still not getting anywhere.
I've started to loose all hopes!
It is my humble request to all experienced people, If anyone could guide me in right direction that would be highly appreciated.
An alum from my college found me on LinkedIn. Never knew him in school (he’s several years older) and he seems to hop around sales roles for vendors tangentially related to my work. He hit me up on LI three times last month and sent a sales deck I replied to with “thanks I’ll be in touch if I need your help.” Now he somehow got my email and sent me three emails in the last 8 days wanting meetings. Brush him off and hope I never need his company or just keep ignoring?
Oh no another session
Does anyone have experience with Viz.ai? I’m speaking with a recruiter and the reviews are a mixed bag so far. The position is for a business analyst, and I’ll be finishing an MBA in may 2023 if that matters.
My company currently has no employee recognition whatsoever besides rather low annual raises. Ideas on what could be implemented on a monthly/quarterly basis to boost the morale among those where pay is not the only thing that matters?

Can I hear from other big law associates working generally normal hours (45-50 hours a week). I feel guilty, so many people in this bowl seem to be working just insane hours that I’ve never met. I like my practice just fine because the work is reasonable. I’m a litigator in a niche group for context. Who else is lucky? Lol
I’m considering lateraling from a V10 firm in NYC. Thoughts on fund formation groups in LA (or offering remote positions)?
One of my favorite people in our word processing center is retiring. Would it be weird if I sent them something? (Amazon gift card? Just a thank you and congrats card? idk!)
I am doing relatively well in my firm, and have been told to apply for promotion to senior assoc (1 year ahead of peers). However I have been feeling burnt out and am unsure whether I want to be doing law in 20 years’ time. My wife wants me to quit private practice and I have an opportunity to go in house. However I am concerned that if I go in house, future remuneration will suffer and I may not be suitably challenged. Any thoughts?
Sooo who can confirm the Skadden retention bonuses? Can we get year, practice group and dollar amount?
Notice question. Can a partner ask you to defer leaving till a particular deal is closed etc, beyond your 2 weeks notice? Even if they can how badly will you burn bridges or ruin relationships by politely declining?
What office chair do you use? Max $500 please 😂
For those of you at firms that have DEI/affinity groups, can you let me know if your firms have a Jewish affinity group for self-identifying Jewish associates and/or staff, and, if so, how this fits into your firm’s DEI goals (i.e. on the sliding scale between welcome participation or benign neglect).
When should I start to get worried that corporate is so slow? Have only billed 230 hours for the year so far and it doesn’t seem like things are picking up soon so getting nervous since my firm has a billable hours minimum requirement.

Has anyone been a U.S. Lawyer and tried to practice in England? And any tips for making the transition?
Are there any successful alternative fee arrangements/business models other than billable hours? Excluding contingency in plaintiff.
Not specifically legal, but I’m looking to sublease my 1bed/1 bath loft apartment in Streeterville from May-August. If you’re interested, please reach out! Can discuss certain furnishings too.
I averaged 250+ billables for Q1. Took a vacation in April and since being back, work has been pretty chill (~35/week) and I havent taken any new work. However, I am finding myself not very productive and the smallest things are taking me way longer than they should. Cant get myself to do these things but then that makes me anxious. Feeling stuck. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation and what did you do? I’m a junior associate in corporate.
Imagine a person lateraling into Big Law who has never had to do the billable hours previously. 1) What would be your best piece of advice? 2) What do you wish someone would have told you about billing when you started? 3) Is there maybe a book for someone entering the minefield on billing effectively and capturing time effectively? Thanks in advance!
Does anyone try to practice mindfulness throughout their work day? If so, how do you do it? Does it help?
