I grew up poor and on food stamps, single parent household, and faced racism. Working hard, smart, and pulling yourself up by your boot straps really does the trick to not being 1 medical expense away from bankruptcy 😳🤯
Guidehouse1. If someone really wants these benefits of the military you mentioned; they are free to sign up.
Analyst1 but it’s so much easier to complain than to overcome as you have. Kudos to you!
People don’t want to hear that story. They just complain, have no issue relying on the government, and talk about screwing over the rich. Shameful
Crazy to think that people in other countries get less than a third of our take home pay for the same work

Crazy to think that this doesn't have to be the case.
I moved to the UK and take home is definitely NOT a third. Compensation (post-MBA) is about 80% of US. Quality of life is much higher here and purchasing power is only 15% higher in NYC than London.
Also, unexpected medical issues won't bankrupt you.
Don’t think anything on this thread is remotely accurate or representative.
Aside for OP use of the word “most”
People also forget that other countries that offer cheaper medical have significantly higher taxes
Medical school is way cheaper so doctors don't have debt to pay
Malpractice insurance is crazy expensive because people sue
Insurance companies drive up costs to make sure they get their share. Biggest ripoff ever, insurance companies
Read the other points too OP. It's multiple factors. I'm not denying that medical debt is expensive but there are reasons why this happens. The system is at fault.

It’s not that crazy when a blood test and a 15-min consultation is $650
$1200 for some blood tests recently
I was once in an ER in the US and in Germany. The bill in the US was $3,500 (luckily I have good insurance, so I ended up paying 50). The exact same work-up in Germany was 180€
GH1. I’ve never said that, so I have no idea where that’s coming from
That’s what insurance is for

Who is doing that?

How do medical expenses lead to bankruptcy?
Your home can be foreclosed on, and your car repossessed, but what will they do with incurred medical expenses - "un-treat" you?
Thats a dumb statement
