Creating performance culture and also keeping morale up during a pandemic? No big deal. Does anyone have unique or interesting approaches they've taken that they'd be willing to share?

3 different teaming norms. 2 bringing fun or levity, 1 encouraging open feedback and speaking up. All 3 build trust, belonging, and performance although the latter indirectly.

For creating a high performance culture and improving morale: actually take the time to know your employees and about their lives/opinions. I think something companies need to work on is bringing back that “human” aspect, especially now during the pandemic.

Honestly taking time during the day for fun…laughter is the quickest way to bring a team together and I’ve found that this leads to high performing teams-more collaboration, effective communication, better culture, better responses to pulse surveys, etc. So many leaders say they don’t have time for this but it’s actually made my teams more efficient after since it breaks down silos, etc. and then eventually team members run the fun by themselves and it doesn’t need to be “leader led”.

Pencil dipped in paint and shoved in my new electric sharpener.

There are acts of destruction daily in my classroom. Most of my classes are 25 kids in a small room. When my attention is taken for a second, someone does something like this. Gluing things to counters. Hiding paintbrushes instead of cleaning them. 15 years, I've tried everything to cultivate a respectful classroom culture, and they just don't care. I'm so tired. So, so tired. I don't know how much longer I can do this.

Hey everyone! I’m interviewing for an HR Generalist role at a Fintech company, this will be their first HR hire and will be reporting to the CFO. I got invited to a second round interview to meet the team to ensure that it’s a good culture fit. I would love to know any thoughts on what I should ask or do to ensure that I am great fit. I left a good impression on the CFO but would to see what else so can do when meeting with the team since it’ll be a 2.5 hour meet up. I’m really excited!

I'm a rising senior looking for new-grad roles. I'm looking to go into PM long term. My current internship has an APM role that for many teams is more of a PO role, but still has the PM title and product-facing opportunities.

I also have the chance to go into MBB as a consultant. While the APM role is obviously more relevant, I'm concerned that the tech reputation and bad Product culture will make it not worth it to turn down MBB.

Hey NYC consulting fish, I’m hoping to switch from industry to consulting. I’m looking for a firm w/ interesting work, yes, but I have a question for you all about company cultures. What is the company culture like at your firm? Are there ample opportunities (ERG events, etc) to socialize and network in and out of your firm? I’m in my later 20s and feel like I really missed out on the whole meeting people (especially around my age) thing these past few years because my firm isn’t strong at that.

People at my company claim to be supportive, promote great work culture but there’s actually no support at all just bunch of bs. I am in a situation where im not getting the support from my supervisors, BDs and everyone is fake all the time. I am genuinely putting in the work and not getting the benefits I deserve. What are some good companies to work for in Marketing/advertising in Toronto? Or how would u go about addressing stuff like this ?

With social security potentially running out, why couldn’t it be an option for the govt to put $5k for every baby that is born in a year into an account Invested in a govt share class S&P 500 fund. Historical average is 10%+, which would provide roughly $2.7 million for a baby born today. Eventually, this would eliminate the need for soc sec tax, and would only cost $18 Billion a year instead of several trillion a year being deposited into the trust.
