To handle the client. The client is going to have questions, have requests, ask to look at shots, etc.
Your job as an account person is to be there for them, explain why things are happening, reassure them of any concerns, so that the producer and creatives can focus on the actual shoot.
Of course creatives and producers can talk to the clients directly, but ultimately you are responsible for making sure the client doesn't derail the process and feels comfortable about the production.
It's a balancing act for sure. It's their production, after all, but they also have to be willing to let the creatives and director/photographer do their thing.
Manage the client
Prevent the client from directing the director.
Lead the client and manage their expectations. Are they being heard? Are they being a pain in the butt and need to be calmed down? Lead the path to resolution when there’s conflict. If you’ve laid the groundwork before getting to set, most of this should be minimized. Clients spend a lot on production and can get worried about seemingly silly things. It’s about being the calm, reassuring voice to pull them back from the ledge.
