Criminal work is slow, even in Chicago. I’m a solo in downtown Chicago. The virus is even causing everyone to stay home, even in Chicago. I’ve gotten a few cases but I’m barely surviving.

I don’t dare touch the money they gave me until after their cases have started (which in some cases isn’t until June). Any other solos having a tough time financially? What’re y’all doing to survive? If my wife wasn’t employed then we would be done for.

So... you’re disappointed in the low crime rate and are hoping it increases for the sake of your livelihood?

That’s right P1. There is also the issue of appeals some of us do, I wasn’t even talking about just criminal law things. I was wondering if people supplement their income in other ways. I’ve made good money covering cases for other lawyers. Of course that’s gone out the window as well. Seeing if people do things like contract work or even entirely non-related jobs to make some extra money.

I’m aware HR isn’t your friend . But is it wise to bring a discriminatory situation to them just to keep a paper trail ? I had a meeting with HR and they were not any help of course and very rude and negative . I made sure to write down everything discussed. Honestly I’m thinking about going on STD leave because my anxiety and stress has been through the roof . Thinking about to the psych ward to escape for a few days lol .

Has anyone used the dependent day care reimbursement account from EY?

I’m an HR Generalist. My job is a mix of recruitment and Employee Relations. I find the recruitment aspect to be pretty enjoyable and stress free, but the Employee Relations aspect does often give me a lot of anxiety (I’m a very anxious person to begin with). Recently, it’s been worse because I have several ER cases currently that seem like they could be potentially turning into lawsuits. Do others in ER experience these anxieties? If so, how do you manage them?

I was listening to a podcast for one of the courses I’m taking and thought I’d share some cool stuff about building habits:

- Willpower is not as effective in making a long term change compared to building habits

- Reduce friction (eg much more likely to go to gym if it’s 5 mins away vs 10)

- Take an existing habit and add your new habit onto it

- Use chaos and stressful times to rethink practical decisions

- To break bad habits, add friction (eg phone & charger away at night)

I think my partner is making my eating disorder worse. I’m sure there are smaller firms with reasonable hours, the same exists in the US.
