Yeah, I don’t think we get to decide whether someone else’s illness is or isn’t a big deal based on its “deadliness.”
Not so much the illness but the attempt to gain sympathy from it
I disagree that it was cringy, unless you’re saying that a bunch of people calling her cringy was the cringy thing. Thyroid issues- even ones that aren’t related to cancer- can be very impactful on a person’s life and will undoubtedly affect their work life. Continuing to function in a work environment while you are physically depleted from hormonal imbalance, chemotherapy, etc is no small feat. Shame on those people for trying to make that woman feel bad about her post.
Doesn't matter if it's so curable, it's still cancer and scary. I went through it myself.
Hope you wrote a LinkedIn post about it too
So then it went from cringiest to the best, right :)
Wow imagine being so insecure about your work that you have to come up with these shenanigans and then being called out on the same platform where you intended to self promote.
I had thyroid benign lump removed first week of ninth grade... No one kept an eye on my thyroid afterwards Kept feeling like an ice cube was stuck in my throat by the time I was in college. Years later, after marriage and divorce and moving many times, I finally got a n.p. to listen , did a blood test and hey something is wrong with my thyroid! Got an endocrinologist said it was hasimoto?? Radiologist came in with several people - I had over 8 lumps inside. Surgery, most benign, small amount
the thyroid neck shield when getting xrays!
Idk for some people it’s an outlet and they obviously need some support.
