Crying for my RSUs….started at my company about 6 months ago and got some RSUs split over 3 years. Turns out the stock price at time of my hiring (which is what was used to calculate the number of shares over the three years) was the highest it’s ever been. Stock price has been cut in half since then, along with my RSU value. 😭 how do I cope?

Same. That’s why I tried not to consider RSUs or bonus too much when negotiating. They obviously matter but Base is king
Oh for sure. It doesn’t make it hurt any less though 😂
All stock and options are going to vary. Hold tight, it’s part of the ride.
Yup - this is me.
Meta?

Meta vests over 4 years, not 3. The 50% decline could apply to basically any tech company.
I’ll trade you some under water about to expire stock options for your half price RSU’s
Interesting how much of our wealth is luck and timing.
Siting at 50% payout on our TSR. We’re on a 3 year cycle so these PSUs were already inflated compared to today’s stock value. So yeah jokes on us in-house.
It stings but hey at least we can write off a whopping 3k in losses per year (when realized, of course)… for like the next 30 years 🥲

Ha - Felling the pain.
Am currently at a pre-ipo company with meaningless equity until a liquidity event - which is not happening any time soon!
You should ask Total Rewards or your manager if there’s any plan for special one-time true-up or retention RSU grants. Many tech companies are doing this including mine. My company recently issued a round of retention grant for top 10% performers at all levels.
Agree with what others mentioned, RSUs should be viewed as “maybe” bonus and not considered as part of your budget for day to day expenses.
Regarding the RSU, is the number of stocks calculated based on the stock price on:
- The day you accept the offer? or
- The first day of employment? Or
- First payday?
Based on a 30 day average on the RSU grant date
