46 / Dual income (spouse 47) fluctuating between $455k to $520k combined / 3 kids in middle school / HCOL city / $3.5M in retirement, college savings, investments / $650k in home equity / parents paid for undergrad / took out student loans for my grad school, spouse worked full time through grad school without loans

My net worth is actually my investment. I invest with fxtrade options. They make my money grow why I focus on building my family and my personal business. If you don’t have an investment I don’t think you have a net worth. You will obviously make use of the money you saving and it’s not bringing in any.

That’s a lot of “hookers and blow!”

Can we stop these posts.. it doesn’t take into account a ton of factors like loans, debt, dependents, family support or inheritance, cost of living, etc. Inevitably someone fees like garbage about themselves and others brag.

I’m here wondering how do people have over 1M before turning 30. As a 24 yo, the pressure is real.

Seriously… how is everyone piling up more than $100k in net worth???????

SN1- $ well spent !

Why?

I would be above on all categories. I assume there is a high correlation between age and income and net worth

I’m interested to know as well

A lot of people here throw in the value of their house not accounting for the mortgage debt. It’s a “feel good” thing we call the “wealth effect.”

likefunny

I agree. I treat my net worth based on retirement/debt/income not real estate.

I am very aware of that and understand how lucky I am. And I invest 100% in Vanguard Total Stock Market (VTSAX). I used to have like 15% in the total international fund too but got rid of that about 5 years ago. I can afford the risk and be 100% in equities so why not. I also have not touched a single penny of the gift or any other investments. I’m just letting it sit and grow and let compound interest do it’s magic

32, 192k, 214k First gen to go to college (parents are refugees). Parents didn’t go to school and grew up in poverty. Took out over $100k in loans to fund my education and paid it off this year after really budgeting hard. Excited to be able to aggressively save now with no debt and build the life I want.

Thank you so much for the insight! Really helpful.

36M / 125k / 488k Please stop comparing yourself... I was happier when I was making 30k a year and rente a one bedroom apt in the Bronx.

Include inheritance/family help or student loans in this... It's the biggest factor. Age 27 / Salary 130k / Net Worth 175k Student loans were 95k, now debt-free. No inheritance.
