Curious about what people think of reviews on platforms like Airbnb Uber etc, does anyone actually give them anymore? I feel like there was a baseline of reviews given in the early days and now if given the choice, people will always skip them. What if it was a review for something more substantial, like rating a client you’ve worked with on a 6 month contract?

I always give reviews, the good, the bad and the ugly. Made it a habit to take 2 minutes to help others make a better decision. I do only focus on hospitality sector though (hotels, restaurants, themeparks, bars etc.).

On some platforms (like Uber), I either give 5 or 0. I think they should simplify the review model and enforce it for every rider. (As in it's an inferior product, short haul transport, I never get a glass of champagne and a hot tub, so if I get there safe in a functional car I am ok)

For jobs I don't trust many platforms, even Glassdoor is very US skewed and you have too little context about the reviewer.

I often write reviews and read them for substantial things like Airbnb.

Not so much for lower dollar things like Uber.

I’m overwhelmed by the many suggestions online and would prefer to get a suggestion directly from professionals.

Is it a good idea to tell your manager intentions of leaving?

Recently had my review and it didn’t go how I expected. No raise, no promotion. I expressed disappointment but took the criticism I was given to reach my goal in 6 months or a year.

However, there are a number of issues that bother me enough where I want to move on.

The team I am on is small and I know that when I leave, they’ll have a lot on their hands. I only have a couple of interviews scheduled and nothing is solid yet.
