As an attorney that has represented attorneys against their law firms, I can tell you that law firms are some of the biggest violators of employment laws. Consider outing them if you can do so confidentially. But be sure what you write is true. You do not want to be threatened with a defamation action. Good luck.

Indeed, still stunned my firm furloughed (then fired) a woman just before she went on maternity leave (as in fired her when she was home with a newborn), but "of course her being pregnant had nothing to do with that decision"

Perhaps the question should be: why don’t organizations like Diversity Lab track hiring and retention of parent associates in Big Law? It seems clear that equity and inclusion efforts, particularly those aimed at advancing women should HAVE to incorporate and account for one of the most basic and perhaps most damning variables for women in Big Law—the audacity to birth a child before one is in their late 30’s or early 40’s.

Which firm is that? Name them so that those of us considering a move don’t blunder into it. There’s so much hypocrisy in big law, the only way to effect lasting change is disclosure.

Thought: When you see diversity of skin color as the most critical factor you miss out of diversity of experience and ideas. Quite often these overlap, but there are a lot of people out there like JD Vance who come from poor white roots, but because of their skin color they’re assumed to have some magical privilege bestowed upon them by society. Likewise, wealthy people of color are lumped in with their less affluent counterparts. We’re so quick to look at skin color and see the sum (cont’d)

On a call with the CEO talking about diversity and they compare a person with tattoos experiencing prejudice in the office to Black people colleague experiences... Meanwhile last I checked, a tattoo was a choice and removable. Also depending on placement, you can’t see it.

And you won't believe who they promote year after year.. the character, curiosity and quality of the lifers Don't join this firm if you for a love of learning and to be inspired. Join if you are a middling who wants a good brand to hack ahead in life and rise above your station

The best private school (best on ranking) in my area is an all girls school (K-12). What’s the pros/cons of sending my daughter to an all girls school? In a predicament folks .. my new employer hired me into a full time role into the US but the immigration team has only done a TN for 10 months due to some administrative mistakes and now the paper work is done. Currently a senior consultant at B4 in LCOL city making $105K. Received offer at Microsoft in Bay Area for $130K base, $100K equity and 10% bonus for an associate role.
