Depends on spend and complexity of client but usually not more than 3-4. Audits obviously require more hands on deck
1-6 depending on size/complexity. I had about 20 for a while. Way too much.

Depends on the size of the client. 5-10
I have 8 but did have 17 at once. Way to many
All of your office’s clients. We have like 7 strategists…
Depends on the client size and how intensive the deliverables are. But on the average 6-10
It depends. At one time for me it’s been maxed to 5
In my past life as an Account Manager at a mid size agency in their B2B pod, I used to manage about 15. Way too many. But it was a mix of small and medium retainer clients.
Over in the enterprise pod, AMs used to manage typically 1 large client or max 2 if they had a mid sized one in the mix.
And on the other hand, the SMB pod, some AMs had up to 80 clients. I know it sounds insane but I’ve seen them handling that for over a year. Sure, some of them were different locations of the same franchise so there were some efficiencies but!
Targets were set in terms of total retainer managed vs number of clients, not the best metric and many AMs had regular burnout.
We aim for 2-4.
