Anyone ever have any issues with a boss who constantly over shares? Specifically talks about their spouse/religion too much? I have a new Director who I would like to give a fair chance but they share way too many details of their personal life where it’s hard for me to be able to respect them. Have you ever had another attorney mark up your drafts to where the entire document is basically rewritten, and all of the changes were stylistic and not substantive? I am a third year. A 6th year attorney did this to me. It was a simple ancillary document of which I have drafted plenty of before. I almost want to bring it up to someone but I don’t want to seem whiny but I’m angry? I’m coaching a junior member of the team now and he often asks this kind of questions that drives me crazy: Should I put the same thing as last year in the WP? Is it all the same as last year? I’m a 1styear, and there’s one other junior associate of color in my group.

Are you responsible for giving performance feedback? Avoid giving personality based feedback. Examples include telling an Asian person they are too quiet/shy or telling a Black person they are agressive/abrasive. DO NOT DO THIS. It clearly represents bias in Performance Management. Performance feedback should be tied to business outcomes with clear examples of what the person does well + how they can improve.

I’m at a new agency and there are a couple of things about the culture I’m really struggling with. 1) Nobody has cameras on. Ever. I understand not having them on occasionally. But this is the norm1 large and small meetings. 2) No small talk. I understand we are all busy but there’s absolutely no “how was your weekend” discussion. What can I do about this? Our Digital marketing team is very small: Myself and the Digital Manager.
