Curious to hear how other SC commission structures are. Currently at my company we are allowed 1% of every large deal over $500,000, but are capped at a certain amount (cannot make more than $15,000 additional every year). This feels particularly frustrating as I’m working on several million $ deals, but could potentially see only 0.25% of the money I’ve brought in for my business. This is on top of our normal base variable if the company hits their numbers. What are others like?

To clarify, we get a $60k variable which is paid out based on how well the whole company does. If you personally work on a big deal, you could get 1% of it, up to an additional $15k for the year

Really? It feels so low 🥲 my AE might get paid out $500,000 on this deal we’ve both been working for a year. I actually might not even get my 1% because my title isn’t technically “senior”, and seniors get the perk of their capped 1%. Im surprised this is normal

Current: 3% commission on my deals (only get paid on technology licenses, nothing on services/consulting). 1% of all SE deals gets pooled together each quarter and divided evenly amongst the team (to encourage collaboration etc…). All uncapped, with accelerators kicking in once you achieve your quota. I’ll caveat that my company was recently acquired and I expect this to change Jan 2023.

Former Company: 70/30 split with half the bonus based on the LOB attainment and half based on the company attainment. I left this company because I never remotely got close to hitting full OTE because of idiotic forecasting and budgeting.

Is that normal in tech? Idk just asking.
I work for a consulting firm and was told if anyone makes a sale, it's MINIMUM 5% and up to 10% commission.

I'm working on making a sale in my spare time now.

An MBA recent grad. I signed with MBB last year. However, I have always wanted to do tech PM. I couldn’t find PM job in Fall and just signed MBB offer I have. I recently got an FAANG offer. I declined the new offer during interview stage and again after they gave me initial offer, but it is coming back with 80k more in annual compensation. It made me so torn!! I am looking for moving forward in my career. My background is as follows:

- bachelors in environmental health and safety engineering (EHS)
- masters in safety sciences

6.5 years work experience
- worked in distribution in EHS for a year
- worked in EHS Consulting for 3 years
- currently working in insurance consulting in risk management

Want to get opinions on next move. Living in TX now. Insurance pays alright but my last raise was less than inflation rate and salary growth is low.

My hospital told us we were getting a 25% hourly increase but only gave us 8% but gave the whole amount to select departments because of their retention issues. Now it’s been 8 months and we still haven’t gotten it. I’ve spoken to our director and our director of nursing. We are being told they have no idea when we will get our raise. What can I do about it? Our HR is incompetent and could careless about any of us. I want to go to corporate about it.
Any advice?

How much technical knowledge do you need to be an SE at Salesforce?

I’m an SE who works 2 AE’s, and from looking at the market am on the bottom end of the pay scale. The company I work for has many different products/services (80+), so they wanted SEs to take on a local “SME” role in a specific area, to support other members of the team.

This role has ramped up quite a bit recently, and people have been coming to me for help with their deals (overviews, demos, POCs) which is increasing my workload.

How would you approach asking for more money here? Thanks!

I currently work in hardware technical sales as a Senior Sales Engineer, OTE $110-120K with 1.5 YOE. Industrial automation equipment for a large player in the space. Software sales seems appealing due to remote work, more flexion, and higher pay comps.
