Curious to know about your views on gender and racial inclusion in this field?

Do Indian Companies shun diversity? If not, then why are not as diverse in the countries they operate in? Other global multinational firms tend to use local resources. Why not Indian firms?

Having a kid. Is it still ok to bring them up with gender stereotypes? I mean, clearly I want them to do any job they aspire to, but will I be a bad parent if I dress the girl up in pink and boy blue?

Diversity @ Deloitte be like - “Our off shore services are Indian and all of our Black people are analysts 😀👍🏼 Oh & look at that black partner over there. Some times we even talk about diversity"

Does anyone understand why people list all three gender pronouns (e.g., she/her/hers) when one (she) would convey the intent? What am I missing?

I really don’t understand the hate against Diversity and Inclusion efforts. I grew up hearing my parents worry about being passed over for promotions and denied opportunities, due to race. It’s a real concern for black professionals.

We spout gender equality, but often ask women to do things men don't get asked to do. From organizing lunches/events at work (pre-Rona), to babysitting our siblings because we are girls with motherly insticts. It is generally expected that women do certain things that are "for the good of the community" which is just unpaid work for no praise. Let's change this. Let's start the change at home and it will translate elsewhere If you won't ask your son to do it, don't ask your daughter to do it.

Do you get the feeling that there is a higher image promotion of women/minority people in Tech?I have seen way to many pictures from major tech companies that promote far more women/minorities than white males in their marketing materials.Wouldn't be better if we hired the best people no matter what the race/gender is?I know some companies are not publishing any gender/race stats but you cant't really demand a 50/50 ratio.Also there is no coincidence that most execs is some companies are British. So this goes both ways.

As far as preferred gender pronouns go, I’m all about choosing he, she, xe, ze, whatever you want to describe yourself as - but can we please rethink using “they” and “their” to describe a single person? It gets confusing ya’ll. There’s zero judgement here, just grammatically speaking it introduces so much ambiguity and misunderstanding into the English language. That is all. Feel free to clap back if you think I’m out of line or misunderstanding something - always here to learn

Geninue question on a subject I don’t know enough about: If someone has a gender pronoun in their e-mail signature (e.g. she/her/hers), does that mean they are LGBTQ+ ?

To all my friends and colleagues supporting the D&I cause, I apologize for the rant but please know that this is important to me: We are Latinos, not Latinx. It’s not a description of gender, it’s a construct of “our” language to describe the plural in the masculine form. Spanish just be like that, as does French, Italian, and German (and others). Stop appropriating my language and adding your colonial English grammar rules to it. Please. Pretty please. With a great big cherry on top.

Quick poll: List your gender & a quick sentence on whether you like to work for male or female bosses (ok to say no preference). Me personally - Male - I’ve had better experiences working with male managers. I’ve noticed that more female managers feel disadvantaged and try extra hard to prove themselves (incredulous this happens in 2020), but in the process tend to be more demanding and stressful to work with. This is not intended to offend anyone. Just genuinely looking to learn and grow.

Why do we celebrate diversity and not just people? Celebrating diversity is offensive to 'diverse’ people as they don’t like to be treated as corporate trophies and is discriminatory against white men

I’m Asian, grew up poor, was running the cashier for my parents takeout biz starting 6th grade. I learned the hard way not to put my race down on my college applications. I was lucky enough to score Accenture consulting out of my non-target. Now I’m listening to my coworker friends (Hispanic and Black) who grew up rich in NJ and CT, refer each other to diversity programs that help with MBA admissions and provide scholarships, talking to each other about the money they get to save from it.
