1st year; around 50+ people. Miami. Monthly billable is 150 so yearly around 1804. I make 75K. I like it, but it’s stressful sometimes

I’m a 1st year associate… My firm has around 100+ attorneys with locations in a few larger metropolitan areas in different states but I work in the main office in Houston. Our billable requirement is 165 per month (i.e., 1980/yr). I make $90k/yr base. We receive a bonus at the end of each month that we exceed the 165 hour requirement ($500 bonus at 180 hours; $2,000 bonus at 210 hours). The work itself is kind of mundane, insanely repetitive, and at times unnecessarily stressful. Do I want to do this for the rest of my career? No. But overall I’m content with my current setup for the time being.

You definitely don’t want to do that the rest of your life. There are so many better paying fields than ID. Chomp your teeth and then GTF out

3rd year. Primarily med-mal. Mountain west. 40 attorneys. 1700 per year billable. $95k. Bonus is negotiable. I like the subject area. I’m always learning and talking to interesting experts. But insurance companies can be frustrating—frustrating enough that I’m looking to leave. Also pay is just so low compared to other practices.

1st year associate. 300+ attorneys. Large city in the south. 1,800 per year billable. 105k base. $50 per hour bonus per month over 150 hours. I actually enjoy it because the carriers I work with seem chill compared to others I’ve heard about, i.e. no hours cut, they leave me alone.

Working under PAS (mobility tax) for 3+ years and got an offer to go PCS. However the base is slightly lower by 3k from what I am making right now. Title down from senior to tax consultant ll, but re-evaluation in upcoming June and maybe able to get promote back to senior.

My questions is, if the comp got negotiated the same. Doesn’t PCS actually opens more opportunities than global mobility tax in the future? I know I don’t want to be in mobility tax for ever.

However just now I received some amount from IBM credited to my bank. Although it's a small amount in consideration to my monthly salary, any idea what component is this?

Question for funds folks, since no one is around to answer any questions and I can't seem to find this answer anywhere. Why can't a placement agent combine or integrate the offering of interests in the sponsor's fund with the contemporaneous offering of interests in another fund? Is it based on reputational risk or from a sales perspective in case someone rejects both funds, any other issues? Thanks!

Hi ladies, my SO recently said that if he were to make a will one day, he would have all his stuff go to his best friend because his friend wouldn’t do something stupid with it. Has anyone negotiated pay at a hospital or company that states they have different levels/tiers of fixed pay for so-and-so profession and can’t budge? I’ve worked in other fields prior to healthcare and have a hard time believing every (pick profession like PT) gets paid exactly (pick random number like $72,345). I’m skeptical because it sounds like “we have levels/tiers of fixed pay and can’t budge” is just an excuse to shut down negotiation right away. Can anyone share their experience?
