Curious to see if many people have looked at changing companies in their late 50’s and early 60’s. I’m amazed at the recruiting companies that are still calling even with the knowledge of my age based on my college graduation and YOE. Are companies hesitant to bring on someone new as a sales engineer/rep at this late a stage in their careers?

We have lots of older folks at my company. When I was hired, at 40, I was the youngest person on my team (not anymore). Tight market for talent and some Companies willing to pay/reward for experience

Good afternoon everyone! I hope all is well and everyone that reads this post is having a great day. I am posting because I am currently looking for a new role. The company I currently work for not only downsized, but severely cut hours for those of us still here. Needless to say, I need to earn money to survive. I have no il-will towards the company but I cannot survive off what I am currently making. If you have any referrals or know of any opportunities, please let me know.

What honestly helps me the most is knowledge share between peers at work- seeing briefs from other teams and talking to other strategists about how they've approached different problems and why. It's great if you have a planning team that does this semi regularly, if not, definitely something to bring up with department heads. I've also found it helpful to read through things like case studies from recent 4As/ Effies to get a peek into some successful thinking.

What is everyones opinions on FOMO? I think it screams immature and a bit insecure. I used to have it so this may be hypocritical but I no longer do, I love staying in, making food, sitting in bed, & sleeping early. But, my friends still go out several times a week and are constantly posting their 'cool' lives on social media. When I tell my friends this, they say im being 'lame' or 'boring'. Ik they're joking but its annoying. I just want another perspective on this do I find new friends?

Hey everyone, I need some advise. I've been interviewing for a company for the last 4weeks. The salary was originally discussed as (say Xk) but the recruiter I'm working with said today that they "realigned the goals" and brought the salary down to (Xk-10). I wasn't even okaay with Xk tbh, and now they've gone ahead and reduced it by 10k! I'm attending the final round on Friday - do y'all have any tips on how I can negotiate my salary to X+10 and let them know that this is highly unprofessional?

I'm halfway through a contract position and enjoying it, and would like to transfer to full-time, but I worry about the 90-day gap in employment and that I wouldn't be able to find the same position remotely with this company. (have finance probs I won't delve into now.) Not sure how to a) tell my manager that I want to transfer to FTE but do not want to move or b) how/when to figure out my next move. Anyone willing to DM/maybe give some advice?

If all the top consulting firms made anonymous decks or gave anonymous pitches to a client, eg no branding and the client did not know which firm made which deck, do you actually think that the client would prefer MBB? Is MBB actually coming up with better/more innovative solutions? I feel like I see many repeat or slightly altered solutions on almost all of my cases, are these really things that people at Deloitte/Accenture etc aren’t coming up with?

Hey folks, I’m about a year into my new SE career and looking to continue to invest in professional skills. I’ve obviously been thrown into the fire learning the sales side of things, but what areas (technical skills, certs, books, etc.) you all would recommend I look to invest in? I’ve been looking at some beginner coding boot camps and scrum product owner certs, but interested in what you all have done to further advance your career

Hello I am currently a Data Analyst for a Data Science & Analytics team where I build a lot of Tableau dashboards for end users to digest modeling outputs. Hey everyone, French here. I’ve been coding for my all life (10-15 years) and have 6 YEO professionally (without internships). I feel like to move on in my career by upgrading to a SE/SA path. I always love problem solving and I am obsessed with detail. I don’t have any opportunity in my current company, so I am wondering where I should start to make the transition. What skills do I need? I feel like needing more responsibilities and having a valuable job.
Also, any ref?

Thanks everyone!

What is an average starting salary for a sales engineer?

Base is 60k OTE 85k, but 120% commission cap. I support 10 AEs whose base is 55k. I have 13 years experience in my field, including 5 working in the position of my now prospects. Closed dozens of deals at trade shows, created/presented virtual and in-person seminars, create onboarding and scripts for the reps I support as a SE and am required to be on majority of demos across all time zones. Curious what everyone's salary, OTE, and total comp is based on experience.

Assuming my review is good, should I ask for more base, higher OTE for a larger bonus, or more immediately vested equity?

Base: $130k
OTE: $190k
Health & dental: 100% covered
Fully remote
Equity after one year 25%, then accrued monthly for 3 years until 100% vested
YoE in SaaS: 3 years (worked in a different industry for 12 years)
