Currently an associate with two years of experience. Recently received a B4 offer for senior. How should I approach negotiating? Should I do it? It’s my only offer so idk how much leverage I have.

Left big four as a first year manager for a controller role with a smaller audit client. When I left I had no idea what my long term goal was or where I wanted to end up. Edward Jones advisor with 30 million AUM and roughly 250k gross production. Been there for almost 4 years. Got an offer at Merrill Lynch to take over a 100 million dollar retirement transition plan in 5 years, or to join a 5 person Merrill Lynch team that manages a lot.

Pros to EJ: Have my own office, a year or two away from partnership, great office setting and client satisfaction.

Pros to Merrill: Bump in compensation, additional tools and services w banking, ability to take over assets.

I am looking to drop my series 7 and join an RIA. I’ve finally accepted that the BD environment is a terrible fit for me. I would like to join an RIA team because I’m just over 5 years in and I would like to have some mentors to continue learning from, but if I can’t find the right fit then my plan is to launch my own.
