Wanted to share smth I found recently. I felt like it was pretty darn accurate. I’ll provide the link here but there’s a screenshot I took that I feel I can relate to quite heavily. https://pairedlife.com/love/infatuations
I’ve struggled with so many heavy infatuations before and a friend recommended this. Hope it helps anyone else out there who’s gone through this or may be going through this right now.

If you’re making $200k at any point in your life, you’re doing fantastic IMO.
I grew up in a working class family so my perspective is obviously skewed.
Mid 40s here. I jumped from $174 to $230 base in my early 40s (High COLA) and can honestly say I’ll be happy if I don’t progress much further than that. I never thought I would be making that much and I’m grateful for not having to worry about money on a constant basis

I'm 25 and make 165k. I'd be happy making this exact salary at 40. Bc it allows me to afford for things that make me HAPPY, which is what life is about. Being happy and living.

SC1 it's my TC. Not my base. But there's ppl that make over 200k at 25 on this app. As C1, said it would be surprising in general society, but not on this app.
Idk my friend, but I really hope a much higher % of my income is passive income by then. I’m tired.
At 40, assuming you have spouse/kids/house, and not getting into the thousand variables that influence this, $500k household income would be good in any city in the USA.
400k plus
If was an honest question - no brags here or flex. Perspective is key. Maybe a better subthread is how much should you have net worth or saving a year after tax?
Also, I’ve always found it interesting that we treat most decisions in life as an optimization equation.. “best quality for lowest price”, etc. Yet when it comes to work many of us will run ourselves into the ground chasing that next raise/promotion and fail to “optimize” our work/life balance. Work is work, a means to an end. If you’re making more money than you “need” then you’re working too hard.
Sky’s the limit
When you say TC are these numbers all Base + bonus ? Or including 401k pension etc
500

It’s crazy because many Americans probably dream of making $120-150k by any age.
Yup. 6 figures is still considered an amazing goal/dream that most Americans will never hit.
It’s easy to say $150 is a lot but it’s more like $100 net of taxes. If you have a 2.5k mortgage and max your 401k it’s down to $50k. That’s before other loans, kids, essentials, savings (safety, college, etc.)... it gets whittled away quick!
$250k+ is good, $500k+ is great
It’s all subjective to you and your lifestyle and your life. There is no one answer.
At 40 we start to think and compare a lot. There are no set baselines on how much you should make at a certain age. I say whatever you are making is the right money. If you feel that you are underpaid, look for other ways to increase your income or look for another job to see how much more you can get if you switch. I know people at my age who make way less and way more then me. I tell myself that what I’m making now is a blessing and always look to progressing to the next level.
