Personal choice.
This.
Woman born and raised in india and live in USA 🙋🏽♀️ I’m a Hindu if that’s relevant. It’s a personal choice and no one should have a say in it, meaning only the woman has the choice and I don’t feel there should be any restrictions on when, it’s ok when the mother realizes that the kid could have Down’s syndrome in the 19th week and abort the baby if she knows she can’t provide the extra attention to the baby. It’s ok if she decides to keep her baby as babies are sometimes born defying science 🤷🏽♀️

I believe in full abortion rights as a matter of national policy.
Personally and religiously I'm ok with abortion in the first trimester. Not after.

Pakistan Muslim M here.
Entirely up to women to decide what they want to do. Not my place to expect someone to go through pregnancy if they don’t want to.

Indian born male here. In India until college, in US after college. US citizen. Non practicing Muslim.
Pro choice. Unrestricted access to abortion is a woman's right.
I am not promoting abortions but there are many many situations - social (young people having unprotected sex), criminal (rape), financial (takes lot of financial resources to raise a child), health (down syndrome as someone said above) when having an abortion may be a reasonable option for a person. No law can cover all such situations which implies it should be a woman's choice and codified in the constitution. The red states are preying on religious sentiments of their residents to stay in power. Supreme court is sold out to Republicans so that is why we are where we are.
I support separation of church/temple/mosque and state too if you want my extended opinion.

Only pregnant mother and her partner should have that right to decide. If the parents are not prepared to welcome a baby the world is not prepared for that baby either.
Anyone should not have right to take decision on behalf of others unless they are willing to pay lifelong bills for raising that kid.
Only exception to this for me could be gender based abortion which is more of a society values issue than abortion issue.
Indian Hindu male.

We have other problems such as female infanticide which is mostly in rural areas. There may be laws against it but people in India do not follow those laws and it is also under reported.
I personally believe in the sanctity of human life and believe that life starts in the womb.
I however don’t think making abortion illegal is going to solve anything for anyone, it will just put a lot of vulnerable people at risk.
I find the so called “pro life” movement to be purely political and quite hypocritical. If they truly cared for human life they would use their power and influence to ensure better healthcare, better childcare, better education.. basically ensure the child when born has at least a chance at a good life. The fact that it’s the same group that votes against these issues just proves that it’s not about being pro life, but about being pro controlling womens bodies. They’re also unwilling to put their money where their mouth is - they want to be pro life only as long as it doesn’t affect them at all or cost them anything. Hypocrisy at its worst.
In my (admittedly conservative) opinion, the best case is one where sexual education and contraception is normalized and prioritized, and people only rarely find themselves in a situation with an unwanted pregnancy. If an unplanned pregnancy does happen, my hope is that women have a real viable choice to keep the baby if they want to (i.e. a strong financial and social support system). And while I wish abortions didn’t have to happen, I recognize that it’s my personal moral code and not something that I can impose on anyone. If an abortion is indeed the decision a woman wants to make, she needs access to proper medical care to do so.
P1 another example of hypocrisy..

Wow, going by responses- desis are far more rational and modern in our thoughts. Kudos to us
We hate radical policies on both right and left sides. I think we are the best centrists 😀😀

Do women make babies unilaterally?
Then why are all rules ONLY on them?
Whatever your conviction is towards abortion - focussing only on women is gender warfare

It's legit someone's very personal choice and nobody except the people involved and affected by it should have a say in this.
If someone decides to go ahead with this choice, infrastructure should readily be available to support them, not actively work against them to make them miserable.

Practicing Hindu female and pro choice. Abortion is one of the most difficult discussion a woman and her family makes . Not something is done in lights and that option should not be taken away as it will lea to illegal and dangerous methods like the 50s or abandonment like in india and china
About me : male , raised in Bangalore to a single mother .
As a child to a single mother I can share a different perspective here - my mom was advised to abort me in my womb . I am so glad that she and her mother decided otherwise and gave me life . This is the biggest gift I have received and I am a living a proof of being Prolife . Thank you mom !
Now as a parent of 3 children and few other we lost due to miscarriages( abortion technically since baby had no heartbeat etc ) I truly believe that if a human baby doesn’t feel safe in its mothers womb then that’s the worst thing it can happen to it . We can’t talk about human dignity and then call out exceptions that suits our lifestyle.
I also agree that being profile doesn’t mean just saving babies, it also is rooted in giving life its dignity from conception to natural death . So yes in it’s strict sense In my humble opinion it’s hypocrisy to say I am Prolife but also being pro gun , pro death penalty . I just don’t find it mutually compatible . life is life and it needs to be protected in all its form . Playing God is not a great human trait .
Yes there are many factors to consider and some are more important than rest and it’s tough to generalize it but is anything more important than giving LIFE ?
I think everyone has made up their minds on this topic - but do look up number of abortions done each day ? Hope we can hear the silent cry of those children . Let’s not politicize their cry and their pain - they are just asking for basic human dignity bestowed on them by their creator .

You made an excellent case to let a woman decide by sharing your story. Your mom decided what she wanted to do. The right your mom had and exercised should be every woman’s legal right (pre-viability). As a moral obligation, I wish we aspire to zero abortions.
Muslim F, Pakistani, Karachi born and US raised. Pro choice all day.
I have so many friends who have gone through an abortion and none of them have regretted it.

Personal choice and hence should not be controlled by the state i.e including not banning them.
However, it is a healthcare decision and govt must provide infrastructure to support this decision.
Quite like India’s view on abortion, where the government provides access to safe abortion and then after certain weeks makes it illegal to reduce girl child infant mortality.
US born F here, living in a red state- I’m pro choice
This is just individual decision like religion, occupation, education, food preferences, partner preferences.. Govt has no right to control it.

I'm not surprised but it's heartwarming to see the responses. Im Hindu, male lived in US and India half n half.
Bhrun Hatya (killing a fetus) is considered a mahapaap (huge sin). But then so are killing a cow, a Brahmin, gambling, stealing gold and having sex with the gurus wife. So theres that.
I am pro choice and I deeply believe if we take away that right abortions won't stop but medically sound, safe termination of pregnancies will definitely be impacted.

It can potentially lead to an illegal market for abortion pills in red states. Traveling to blue states may not be a viable option for many.
It’s a woman’s call…
(Male, Hindu though not super religious and do not look to religion for right vs wrong) On the fence and very torn about it - agree a woman should have full autonomy over her body but really struggle why we shouldn’t consider abortion of a viable fetus murder (and why the distinction between say an 8 month fetus vs a 1 day baby, etc.)
Support Roe v Wade. Question was around abortion rights in general (and like some have pointed out restrictions in India are substantially less strict)
