Curious with all the lay-off news, anyone gone beyond freelance, tried to set up their own shop? Pitfalls? Lessons learned? Cautionary tales?

Yes, it’s a long road! We’ve been trucking away for the last year now! Biggest client had us traveling abroad greatest experience. Cautionary was to always set the tone with clients! And learn how to say no to clients and employees. I said yes and ended up scaling too fast ! Save money! Hire nimble. Celebrate the small wins. Most important is to try to enjoy the journey and the uncomfortableness of it all!

Don’t bother with entrepreneurs and businesses below a certain size unless it’s a VC funded startup. You can tell if they have no money when the client seems to pay no attention to anything in the pitch deck besides the price. Working with an ad agency is kind of like buying a boat that way. Find an Account partner who can do the talking, negotiating, and hand-holding otherwise that’s your job and if you’re a great creative it’s unlikely you’re as great at Account stuff.

Hi! Can someone recommend a source for learning how do simple, fun music lessons on Zoom? I teach first grade and use music for my transitions. I would also like to play songs for them with my guitar, but am concerned it won’t sound good on zoom (the guitar, not my voice, which is bad, we established that long ago)

Just had my discovery flight and I’ve been wanting to go for my PPL for a while, just not sure I can justify the 15k or so investment in my current financial situation. Would it be really bad to spread my lesson over a period of a few years?
