Current comp is near the top of the band for a role I was offered. If I jumped I would be taking a ~7% increase while I was hoping for something closer to 20%. Is it possible to counter and push past the band? I was offered a raise during my interview process so the original jump of 15% was decreased to 7% based on my new salary.

Not worth the jump if you like where you currently work and have a strong support network.

If you were 40% below what they're offering sure. You said their current offer is only 7% above what you're currently making so I think you have the leverage. 7% isn't enough to get most people to switch places IMO.

Sure, it's possible to counter, but it's fairly common for bands to be ironclad, so you might not get any traction asking for an out of band salary.

My manager who I've been working with for a long time now is super toxic (gaslighting, aggressive micromanagement...). But he's smart enough to have not given me anything concrete to report (if I did, it would come across as me complaining about our high pressure industry). I'm definitely on my way out but won't be able to forgive myself if I don't pass on candid feedback during my exit without mincing words or being diplomatic. I also want to maintain a good relationship with the rest of...

I recently interviewed for a position I was excited about. I like my job but this position seemed like a great fit. I met with five different individuals including a partner. Everyone was extremely nice. I received positive signaling and found out almost a week later that I didn’t receive the position. I have absolutely no idea why. Is it typical for companies to make you go through so many different interviews only to reject you?

…sigh… Adobe employees halp Pls I’ve had 5 or so recruiters for PM roles reach out to me and they’re trying to strong arm me to moving to San Jose… I get nauseous thinking about moving to San Jose. This latest recruiter said in their initial email to me for a product manager position that it is on site in SF/SJ. I replied saying: “Im not moving to California during record breaking inflation you’ve gotta be kidding me” And they responded saying full remote is an option. Is Adobe remote yet tho?

Tell me if I’m missing something here. In consulting, you sign up to work yourself to the bone for 15ish years at well below market pay for the chance of making partner where you will still be somewhat below market for another 10 years working yourself to the bone for the chance at maybe being a senior partner for 10 years making decent money while still working insane hours all while paying for your boss’s salary and pension and their retired boss’s pension. What about this is appealing again?
