Current contract - amazing company that has been vocal about bringing me on when approved but no promises. Contract is $60/hr. I negotiated high due to paying private health ins at high $. I was offered a role at a different company for $105K with a $5K sign on and additional benefits. I expressed my need for a $115K base in our original conversation. Anything less than 115K is a paycut from current $ and if I was offered FTE at current contract. Thoughts on negotiating? I dont want to be greedy

Where are you located and YOE? What kind of benefits are you getting? Is there an annual bonus structure? You can certainly ask for more but I would also think about the non-salary tangibles and what that provides you like health insurance, retirement contributions, paid vacation, disability, etc. I would also think about career progression and salary progression. Presumably you won't have the same base forever. In sum, ask for more if you want to but if they don't say yes think about what else this company is bringing to the table. My guess is the contract company won't match your hourly rate.

Ironically, a month ago, I asked about an FTE opportunity that was open for my exact role, and they kind of shrugged it off like we will be converting soon. Recently they have returned to work as a hybrid schedule and have been stressing the importance of in person for having the real connection. I'm concerned about my growth down the line as I am remote with no capabilities of relocation and it seems all leaders are within proximity to their location.

Ultimately offer company came back at $107,250 with $10K sign on and upped the RSU so i am going to be accepting. Its a huge opportunity for me to grow in a different industry and gain a new perspective.

I appreciate your guidance and feedback!

I think what you're asking for is more than reasonable - especially given inflation and the current COL. If it were me, I'd stand firm at that amount.

Thank you for your feedback! I did stay strong at what I originally asked for, and I am waiting to hear back.

It seems partners are much more flexible with associates who have kids than with those who don’t. If it’s okay for my colleague with a kid to leave at 5 pm and log on later, why isn’t that the same for me (no kids)? My obligations might be different, but I still have a life and want to be able to do certain things, like catch that evening workout class or cook dinner for my partner. As you can probably tell, my firm is operating 100% in person. There is no point here — I’m just whining.

I'm coming to the end of a contract term and being converted to FTE.

The offer was presented to me by the hiring manager and not HR/Recruiter. To me it is a lower base salary offer than expected, so I asked for info on the total compensation package (base, benefits, bonus, stock/rsu, etc.), which I was told about when they took me on under the contract with the intention to convert.

Hiring manager sends me an email with only standard benefits, no bonus, etc. Are these red flags?
