Nice! I make it a point to workout every day on the road no matter how late or early. It sucks. But worth it. Follow the rock on Instagram. Huge inspiration. I'm 100% serious about that - and he's a great human person. Cut the bread, but also cut the sodium, sauces, and appetizers. Sodium is why we're a fat country. Keep that cardio up!!!! You got this. Rome wasn't built in a day and all that stuff. Intensity builds immensity
Wow everyone, you're all beautiful people. Thanks for this awesome advice. Consultants have to stick together! You guys rule. I'll post again with the weight loss journey (not that you care but damn you guys went hard on this post).
Cut 35lbs in ~6months. Cardio, lift weights, eat smart, drink less, eat smarter than you thought was smart. Seriously it's like 2/3rds diet. Try flywheel or orange theory.....or the infamous crossfit. Good luck! DC has great gyms if you're in that city
Take 6 days off bread, keep a cheat day. Bread is a habit and addiction, you'll notice it and won't miss it :-). Cutting anything out 100% works against you. Each dinner roll is 120 calories. 3 dinner rolls can be a whole meal of something else. You've got this!
S&1, I am actually based out of DC! But of course I'm never there haha but I'll pursue those ideas!! Thanks! Just gotta stop eating so much bread 😔
Spin and cut week day drinking
Sugar is your greatest enemy. Watch carbs too, only after workouts where you go savage. If your going to drink, vodka+soda. Interval cardio.
I started snacking MORE and it changed my life. Before I would get ravenous and make bad choices. Now I will bring smoothies, energy bites, grilled chicken, and eat them every few hours. Life changing. Also, track your calories. You eat way more than u realize!! And mentally consider what happens if u fail in reaching your goal. Good luck!
I second D1- My nutritionist told me to eat a protein bar every day when I'm on the road. It feels like I'm eating processed garbage but it keeps me full and helps me choose dry lean protein and veggies. Other advice- you have to counteract the hours and sitting we do with activity in addition to working out. 1 hour per day vs. 15 hours on your bum won't cut it. Do mini workouts in the morning, walk around during the day, make sure you stand once an hour. Also- you can undo a ton of damage by being really active on the weekend and super clean with your diet. Think of the work week as less clean no matter how great you are because the cooking oils and portion sizes make our rally hard to get it right.
Google "slow carb diet". Change your eating habits first and follow this routine for 4-6 weeks. Once you lost a decent amount of fat (expect 10lbs if you're in the 190 range) you'll have 1) more motivation to keep eating healthy and 2) more motivation to work out. I would recommend not exercising at first, except for 45mjn walks - these you can knock out on a treadmill while working/reading/etc.
It's ALL ABOUT THE DIET and diet means what you eat daily not a fad. Change the behavior.
I got a classpass--highly recommend that!
Try everything until you find something you like. Good luck!!
Start tracking your food and activity on myfitnesspal. I used to think I was eating healthy, but I logged my food and realized I was eating wayyyyy too many calories. Really helps put things in perspective. Also, alcohol itself can't be stored as fat, but it accelerates the rate at which dietary fat (what you eat) is stored as body fat. So if you must drink, don't eat unhealthily with it. It's 80% what you eat and 20% exercise, so eat healthy and at a deficit, and also get cardio/strength training in.
Also, your body needs carbs if you're going to really up your workout regimen. Don't cut the bread completely. And don't be scared of good fats either. One of my favorite snacks is avocado on whole wheat toast. I also love flatout light flatbreads, they're 90 calories each and full of fiber and protein. But you should definitely watch sodium intake - it doesn't necessarily make you fat, but it does make you retain water
Make 1 meal a day be a salad. And eat veggies like carrots and celery throughout the day to keep your metabolism up
Cut the carbs and keep working out. The weight will melt off. Good luck OP!
Also quick win for snacks: clementines come in those big bags for less than $5 but go bad in less than a week. Force yourself to finish a bag every 3-4 days while not eating 2 clementines within 2 hours of each other. This will help train you to split meals into smaller and more frequent occassions
Also the best piece of advice I can give -- it doesn't matter if u fall off the wagon, that's normal. Just force yourself to get back on! Losing a week is better than losing a month
I use the app LoseIt and track everything diligently. First cut the weight by dieting and then hit the gym for fitness. It's extremely difficult to diet while burning so much energy at the gym. Try hour long walks. Aim for ~1lb per week caloric deficit (3500 cal/wk or 500 cal/day)
