It’s all about how you can spin what you did during internship in the interview with future company. Can you articulate what you did in either to answer PM questions that may come up about your experience?

In the interview for the PM internship, the cofounder of the company asked a lot of questions about research, writing, and my technical skills. I have a lot of experience with conducting interviews and spinner that as doing user interviews. In terms of research, I spoke about using some analytics like in Google or facebook ads. The interviewer definitely considered those things but they did also tell me that I will need to learn PM specific things such as writing product specs and gain knowledge about the hitech industry. Those were the two things that they noted that could be a steep learning curve

I’m struggling to see the value of a MBA as a consultant. If you come back to consulting, you lose career progression. You can’t really go to PE/VC from MBA with a consulting background only. A MBA will not help you get any job in tech any more than your consulting experience would. Same with industry jobs. What’s the value other than a free 2 year party/networking session assuming you return to your firm?

Is it just me? I feel like I will never RE at this point. I bootstrapped my way through college and MBA with the help of Uncle Sam but didn’t actually start saving any $ til my early 30s. At 38 yo in a MCOL area and now making $200k a year (single mom), the $40k a year I am putting away doesn’t seem to be enough to RE. Currently at about $300k investment, one rental property. I feel like exiting the rat race entirely and building a small cabin on a cheap peace of land is the only way some days!

I am currently in embedded systems domain, want to make a switch to software architect role. Currently I have 6 months internship experience in python and 6 months of full time exp in python and C.

My manager basically gave me an unlimited budget to get whatever certifications I want. My career profile is similar to a Solution Architect- what should I get? I am thinking about Okta (I do some SAML work), Domo, ITIL, Six Sigma, Certified Scrum Product Owner, Six Sigma, anything else? I have AWS Cloud Practitioner already. I am hoping to pivot to Product Management or Data Science.

I’m fairly new to contributing to my 401k, I see mixed opinions on Roth vs. Traditional. My informal life advisor is trying to tell me that the opportunity cost for not having the investments in the traditional 401k is greater than the long term tax benefits from contributing to a Roth 401k? Does anyone have a qualified opinion on this?
