Currently a 1L and seeking some insight. background info: i have a masters in international economics and finance, worked as a file assistant at Kirkland during college, and have other extensive legal background as an assistant. My career advisor told me to stay up to date with salaries and geographical locations and all the works. Where can I go to get insight on how much someone with a like background gets paid? Does a masters matter? I want to do M&A, or debt equity
Given your background with K&E, they’re the place to start for a corporate job. Being t14 helps, but its not the only route to biglaw. They love JDs with MBAs, so your finance background should help.
For salary info: this app’s biglaw bowl; BLB; NEP and generally just keeping your ear to the street
thank you! vey helpful!
I think your chances of getting into these fields are not very high, provided that you don’t go to a T1 law school. Do you have some kind of science background? If so, BigLaw might become a possibility. The masters itself may not be so helpful, but your work experience can be.
Thanks for the insight!
