Is the best route to go through PE or HF to get the skillsets needed? Know it’s an uphill battle

I am a mechanical engineer and people think that because I am a "mechanical" engineer like I fix cars. It is part of the career, but it is not the same thing. It happens to others that people confuse your profession, or it's only to me?

What are actionable items one should strive for when trying to grow as a designer after landing their first role? I hear a lot about ways to grow to land the first job but very little about how to improve after you know the basics.

Currently I am an administrative coordinator at a university handling a specific area with a helping hand in multiple others. I’m about to have a opportunity to be a procurement assistant in the same office. I also likely have an office manager opportunity in a small IT cybersecurity business. The other pending slight possibility is a assistant property management. I would appreciate feedback on the different career paths

I have a somewhat unsteady, gappy work history due to several health issues — serious ones — that have gotten in the way since I passed the bar. My first major health issue I can easily explain as it’s physical, a major concussion. My other health issues are severe depression that affected my ability to work steadily. I am better finally, and ready to get back to work, but I don’t know how to explain this or even approach this during interviews/resume writing.

I’ve been with firms for 6 years. I struggle (not that I’m not intellectually capable of doing this job), I just hate the detail oriented nature of this industry. Everything gets scrutinized so carefully and most things I stayed up late for doesn’t matter.

I just got PIP talk and they are pushing me out next year. I’m kinda relieved. I want to leave law completely and be someone on the operation side. Eventually I want to be an COO.

How do I get there from here?

I work with great people. Really can’t say anything bad about my firm in general either. But…I still dislike the entire premise of law firm life, the billable hour, etc.. Currently a big 4 consultant and got an offer from FAANG for a strategy and ops role that would bring my total comp up 60%. It has always been a goal of mine to work for tier 1 strategy firm as I’ve always felt on the outside looking in at big4. My home office is NY but I live in NJ and I’m filing taxes in multiple states that I worked in this year. On my W2 federal wages are the same as NY state wages, how do I track down my New York w2 wages without access to my detailed timesheets? Can I just subtract my total wages from the state wages from my W2 of the other states I’ve worked in?
