As someone who works in MBB, would it be worth it to try to get deal experience in IBD before going to PE? Is there any case it would be more or less worth it (ex. worth it if certain banks/groups, but not generally)? I want to hit the ground running in PE, and I know the lack of modeling experience can be difficult to overcome…

I’ve been out of college for 5 years and all of my work experience till now has been in R&D for start ups and small businesses . So not only is this a new experience for me going into such a large company but also a industry (semiconductors). Does anybody has tips or advices on what I should expect as a new hire and how I can set myself up for success? Thanks!

Hello fellow HR pros! I really need your opinions on HR certifications. I am deciding between PHR and SHRM-cp. I have read just about all there is online comparing the two and can not decide. My heart is telling me PHR, my mother in law (an HRBP) is telling me to go with SHRM, as it’s more widely recognized, more established and a larger network in general. I work for a 350~ company who is growing rapidly through M&A. Passions/interests are compliance, strategic vision, M&A, branding and culture

Hi all, I’m seeking to transition into data privacy and am seeking advice from everyone. I’m currently studying for the CIPP/US test. I have 5+ years experience with HIPAA and GDPR. What would you recommend (outside of the IAPP book) for study materials and what is the outlook for someone with periphery data privacy experience seeking to deep dive into the field? Thanks in advance.

Looking to transition to a career in sales. Have been in Learning & Development for last 7 years. Eventually would love to blend the two but seems like the best way to do that would be getting more experience in sales. Does anyone have advice on where to look next? So far I’ve completed a sales training academy and over the summer got sales experience helping a coach scale their coaching program. Looking for full time opps with corporate company now.

For those who went about gaining a professional mentor outside of their job, how did you do it? I would love to have a mentor that’s higher than me by more than one position and outside of my company (pretty much what I have now). I’m looking to pivot back into a technical writing role, or at least a role with tech writing as a core responsibility. I’ve been working toward a solution architect role but I’m not allowed to own any documentation; I have to farm it all out to BAs. I actually wouldn’t even mind being a BA — which is literally what I was hired as — but my “on paper” boss said my salary is too high to be a BA(?!). Is it possible to land a tech writing or BA job that pays in the $140k - $150 range?

I'm at a career juncture and have decided on a career in anti-money laundering as my new path. I'm also highly interested in additional education to further my career and am eyeing graduate school. I keep reading that JDs are valued in compliance but am wondering if a different graduate program is better for my goals. I already plan to obtain the CAMS certification. Thank you!
