Currently a C doing implementations. Would moving to a FAANG as a business intelligence engineer a step up or down from my current role? Would I have better exit ops as a BIE if I want to move around to another tech company?

Entry level BIE would be a slight step down at FAANG. Within tech, yes you would absolutely have better exit ops elsewhere in tech if you want to continue down the BIE / analyst or maybe data engineer route if you’re solid.

If you like implementation, consider solution architect roles — they’re growing in popularity as a less technically demanding alternative to software engineering. Amazon is hiring a metric ton of them right now.

In that case, definitely an upgrade.

That depends on what work you want to do in the future

CS and SWE is great in that it can be applicable to a great range of fields, to create immensely helpful tools for other things.

What are some areas where SWE intersects with things that help people, country, and the world? Now also add in making a decent living and generally competitive with other SWE “industry”.

Things that come to my mind are government-related, military, some fintech. Sciences have great need of computing, and can have big impact, but income is less clear.

Hi All,

Need some career advice.

I have a year of experience in a clinical ops role where learning is quite stagnant. I’m eagerly looking to transition to good challenging opportunities in life science consulting/analytics and allied domains. Which organisations/startups/roles should one apply to being a non-technical applicant with a masters in biotechnology?

It would be really helpful to get your guidance on further course of action.

TIA!

Hi fishes,

Service bAsed companies are not releasing offers nowadays. I have left looking for offers from any of service based companies. Except TCS, All are frauds and TCS won’t pay much anyway so done. They will lure you to give interviews and later when all rounds are done and docs are submitted, they will come and say we can’t pay you. I have faced the same with capegemini, tech Mahindra, infosys, cognizant. Is this the case with anyone ? Or am I the only one with bad luck

Additional Posts in Consulting Exit Opportunities

Just received an offer from a start up but theyre unwilling to provide valuation and shares outstanding. However, they’re received solid funding and have prominent investors. Is this normal?

Hey all -- anyone left consulting without landing another job? I want to exit into the industry but with constant travel and busy schedule it's been hard to interview in the industry.

Had a good phone interview with HR last Tuesday. Said they want to bring me in for in person interviews this week. I sent them my availability and have not heard back. Should I follow up today?

I’m so burnt out that I can’t seem to get myself to complete a deliverable, and would rather quit than finish it.
