Hey, I graduated UChicago and took a finance analyst position. However, I am looking to switch into management consulting because of a couple factors I have realized matter more to me than I realized: 1. Team and Collaborative problem-solving, 2. Diversity of companies and industries I am exposed to because of entrepreneurial hopes in the future.

I had an interview and the recruiter (White F) could not stop talking about DEI and POC % hires. It’s great yes but I didn’t even mention or ask about it yet. Barely had time to talk about myself. I was slightly uncomfortable. She made me feel like a diversity hire.

I cannot stand when the men on my team start calling eachother "dude" and "bro". Am I crazy or are these slight microaggressions? It feels like a flaunt of masculinity and makes me uncomfortable as a female in the same conversation.

As an indigenous LatinX I worry that if I put indigenous it won’t tick the “diversity” box for the algorithm or recruiters. I work with (not in) the I&D dept at my company and our target recruiting groups don’t include or mention indigenous. Any recruiters here that have insight?

I’ve spent my career on the internal/exec comms side of the house and am looking for a director role. I am getting some interest from recruiters, but the the roles seem to be focused on media relations. Is that typical?? I’ve managed external comms but it’s not my expertise. The roles do come with a broader comms team, so if I were to get one then it’s not like I would be on my own. Am I being insecure about not being experienced enough in media relations or is it ok?

Can I apply for an h1b transfer even though I haven’t worked in the US for the past few months? I moved and worked in another country for some time. My visa is not expired yet and my employer did not cancel my visa. Is it a simple cap exempt h1b visa transfer or is it more complicated because I most recently wasn’t using my h1b actively ?
