Currently a full time contractor in HR at tech company earning $50/hr. Was presented an opportunity to do a part time 20/hr per week job at $75/hr. My ultimate goal is FIRE so I’m working currently on starting a cleaning business for cash flow.

Part of me is still scared entrepreneurship isn’t going to work out. If I take new job at financial/risk/accounting firm, I lose opp to convert to FTE at tech co. if my co fails. But it’d give flexibility and decent pay. Should I take it?

I’d do the part time $75 and then start building your cleaning company.

I recently gave HR a target salary for the consultant level as I felt I was a high performing consultant and wanted to be paid near the top of the pay band. So is it just me or do people who have been doing ID for decades generally fall into one of two groups? The first group are cynical people who have been divorced, their kids hate them, etc. then the second group are BS artists who are skilled at avoiding both work and responsibility for anything?

I have about 18k in personal debt and made the mistake of renting a 1bed1bath with a pretty high rent ( lesson learned I’m getting a roommate next time)

Just got off the phone with a recruiter who asked me what year I graduated from my MBA program and college and effectively told me I was too old for the role. I do have the 1 year of experience they asked for in the job in question. It's just that I have all this other experience in things unrelated to the role or things I want to deemphasize in my next role. Is there anything I can do? I only list the last 8 years of experience (as it's most relevant) and don't have my graduation years listed.
