I have the opportunity to move to a small boutique data science and data engineering consulting firm that would pay better with less hours. However, would it stunt my growth without a big 4 tag? It has more opportunities for technical growth and certifications but will push me into a more specialized role. I am mostly worried about the trade off between staying until Manager or upper senior and cashing out then. Does anyone have insight on how the two may differ in future career opportunities?
I currently work for a large NFP, and the work is very boring and I’m considering going back into public accounting. I have 4 years of public accounting experience (2 years with a National Top 25 firm) and about 4 years of mostly NFP experience. Working on the CPA license now and plan to be done by December. Any tips for someone who left public and want to go back? Maybe Big 4?
Would it be a bad move to leave B4 FDD for somewhere like A&M or HL or Riveron as a soon to be A2? I’m being recruited and their practice seems to be growing like crazy so I see it as being a good opportunity to ride the growth and get paid more in the meantime. Any advice?
Which Big 4 has the best benefits?
Everyone talks about career suicide if you leave big 4 too soon, but shouldn’t overall life satisfaction be more important?
Thoughts on switching from big 4 to mid tier?
Am I making a mistake declining offers for Infrastructure Automation/SRE Ops roles in product companies and going for Backend development roles in mid-size service based/Big 4 companies?
How can I learn more about the work and day to day expectations of FDD Advisory? Looking for resources to educate myself in the service line as well as advice. I’m an S1 in audit in the PNW at a Top 15 firm but looking to move to NYC and make a switch to FDD either to Big 4 or another large firm by the end of the year
Have been pinged for a possible role as Director of Operations at a promising looking startup with a 50%% pay increase & equity. It looks like an amazing opportunity.. but my husband and I have just started trying for our first kid, and I'm not sure about leaving the stability and benefits of Big 4, even though I feel like I have run out of career growth here. Has anyone changed jobs at a similar point, or worked at a startup as a new mom, that might be able to share perspective or opinions?

Ex-Consulant here that now works for a big name Real Estate Investment Trust. Saw on LinkedIn that EY has an America’s REIT Leader. Didn’t know that much attention was paid to the REIT space. Are there really consulting teams dedicated to the REIT space in the Big 4? Love working for a REIT and would love to jump back to consulting if there were teams dedicated to the industry.
Does KPMG really pay less than the other Big 4 firms? Or does it come down to negotiating and experience?
I now understand why B4 people would say I just want to do my work and not deal with clients, admin and etc. Manager 1 here. I am struggling to deal with all these extra responsibilities. Managers and SMs, how do you manage?

Question to fellow M&A fishes. I do FDD at EY and was worried deal flow was going to be slow. Haven’t really been on the bench ever since COVID hit though, which seems surprising. Anyone else there feeling like it business is strong?
I am having 5+ years of experience in backend development and I have cleared all technical rounds of EY for SDE 2 role. Tomorrow, I am going to have an HR round for a salary discussion. can anyone suggest the expected salary for the same profile, what should I ask HR about related to compensation?

Best practices on how to turn down a project without burning bridges? Had several project meetings with SMs trying to staff me (currently on bench), all long term so can’t do multiple. What would the salary for a Manager 2 in audit, financial services be in the Big 4 in the Bay Area/ NYC ? Hoping to get some numbers before the raises are finalized !! Thanks

I’m 4 rounds into the interview process for an Assistant Controller position in SoCal. For the next round, I’ll be meeting with the Controller, Accounting Manager, and 5 other junior accounting staff. I’ll have 30 minutes to explain a month-end close task (of my choice) to the accounting team. Also, I’ll have to analyze a random reconciliation and explain improvements that can be made. I’m just a 2nd year manager, so I’m getting so nervous, and any insight or tips would be appreciated!
Do any of you at EY ever have issues actually taking your vacation? Given we work with people across regions on multiple projects at once, who do you ask for approval for longer vacations? I feel like I usually just add it in ARMS and tell people I won’t be there X days. Rarely do I ever get pushback (but rarely do I ever take all my vacation days)
What is the salary range of a 3rd year senior at Deloitte tech consulting like? I think you guys are paid much better!
I'm a benefits director at a large company, and we're adding a fertility benefit starting Jan 1. It looks a lot like Deloitte's program (just noticing Deloitte a lot in this bowl), though ours will be slightly more generous with lifetime maxes. I'd love your feedback about what your employers do especially well or poorly, just to ensure we don't have huge blindspots as we roll it out from scratch. Honest feedback from people who are on this journey is appreciated!!
