Current senior with no real intent of staying past manager due to the lack of WLB. I have an offer to jump to the back office of a PE firm doing operations and compliance. 25% pay bump and I’m told it’s a consistent ~45 hours a week. Would you take it?

Ok so it depends on your goals. Where will this position lead to In the future? I feel like back office compliance work is a huge step down from PwC even if it is a PE office. Why not head to a boutique consulting firm with more work life balance? Additionally, in this competitive market 25% is not good enough.

Interesting..I cannot speak to your goals but there are definitely firms out there with more WLB. Feel free to message me

funny

Depends on what you want in life. Seems like your role will be much more consistent and less hectic. That may also mean less interesting, challenging, and engaging. There is a trade off always. That said it’s not a bad setup.

One other thing is PE firms are very market dependent whereas the Big 4 is less so.

It’s your call. Hole you are happy either way. I would argue things haven’t always been this busy in my 6+ years and there can be a balance but it just depends on the individual. Good luck!

Additional Posts in Fraud and Forensics

Hello everyone! What certifications do you think would be useful to a person who is a newcomer in the fraud and forensic industry. I want to boost my skill set and profile. Currently working as a due diligence, risk and compliance researcher at Kroll. I feel the research role is quite redundant without growth opportunities. Want to move into financial crime compliance. Will the CFE or CAMS be a good investment towards achieving this goal? My background is in law. Please advise.
