I started working for my company about 6 weeks ago and I was originally hired to work from a specific location closer to my home. I was told the 1st day of my employment that the location “is not ready yet” and that I would be working out of a temp location further from my home. It has been really inconvenient for me to say the very least and the remote option is unavailable to me until after the probation period which is 6 months. How should I approach having this conversation with my director?

Any recs or leads? I am unhappy with current job but don’t know how to go about getting a new one
Ey- think about what you want and why, and follow that. I agree IA is a good idea. However, advisory or M&A can sometimes have roles similar to what you're describing (if you mostly do background work and just come out sometimes for deals). Another option is full remote and just paying for travel yourself, and working from wherever you want :) I'm currently full remote (as are a bunch of open positions here) and probably will be using this opportunity to work from our local very man made beach a few days this summer. No reason to wait on your job to make your dreams come true!
Will be easier to look at jobs if you decide what % travel you're comfortable with. Most jobs posted won't say "remote except when traveling" even if they're open to it after discussion.
