Any recs or leads? I am unhappy with current job but don’t know how to go about getting a new one

Ey- think about what you want and why, and follow that. I agree IA is a good idea. However, advisory or M&A can sometimes have roles similar to what you're describing (if you mostly do background work and just come out sometimes for deals). Another option is full remote and just paying for travel yourself, and working from wherever you want :) I'm currently full remote (as are a bunch of open positions here) and probably will be using this opportunity to work from our local very man made beach a few days this summer. No reason to wait on your job to make your dreams come true! Will be easier to look at jobs if you decide what % travel you're comfortable with. Most jobs posted won't say "remote except when traveling" even if they're open to it after discussion.

Looking for advise / opinion on two offers I have in hand: 1. CIO of a regional bank; base comp is 40% less than current, but there’s significant upside in stock, will need to move from NYC to a tier 3 city with very low cost of living 2. Head of banking portfolio at an established old school fin services company - 50% higher base comp than current, no need to move, but significant travel; limited (insignificant) stock options. Other factors: 35, kid yet to start school, recently bought a home

Looking to book flights for my parents to visit us in the US next month. Considering an Emirates flight with a single stop from Bombay via Dubai.Does anyone have any recent experience with Emirates? Last I traveled a few years ago I really liked them but unsure how they are in the pandemic in terms of reliability. Also heard bad things about the reliability of Air India which would be a direct option for us. Is it recommend to avoid? Thanks in advance

Is there a difference between 250k salary and 400k salary? Both salaries are watching spiderman on opening night. Both salaries have food on the table and a roof over their heads. One has a 65in tv vs the other has 75in. One drives a BMW the other a Tesla. I make around 250k and to increase my salary I will have to work a lot more. Is it really worth having more money, at some point it is just a number and quality of life doesn't improve. In fact it could be worse with the extra hours.

Tell me if I’m missing something here. In consulting, you sign up to work yourself to the bone for 15ish years at well below market pay for the chance of making partner where you will still be somewhat below market for another 10 years working yourself to the bone for the chance at maybe being a senior partner for 10 years making decent money while still working insane hours all while paying for your boss’s salary and pension and their retired boss’s pension. What about this is appealing again?

Need advice and pep talk because I’m certain I have chronic imposter syndrome :( Background on me, I have about 6 years of work experience post college but have gone through many companies because of layoffs and/or reorgs. With that, I’ve bounced a lot with different industries and have done different roles for a year max. My current role is about to be my longest (thank goodness, hitting about 2 years) but I feel like I’m not a SME in anything but I feel embarrassment for myself (Cont.)

I was just told by my manager that taking a 2 week vacation would look bad while staffed on a client project. I’ve already been on this project for over a year and another extension is coming. Take 1week, he said. My husband and I planned to travel to Europe from the west coast which is expensive and time consuming. We don’t want to limit ourselves to 1 week. Has anyone else run into this type of situation? Can management really dictate how long you can get away - if you have the days accrued?
