Currently at a big 4 doing risk assurance work which I honestly enjoy. Pay is good, I like my team and I’m situated really well for promotions. Partner has taken a big interest in my career for whatever reason. I was offered the opportunity to join Accenture’s strategy group recently. Would I be stupid not to take it and get out of risk?

Please share how you got that offer 🥲 I’m trying to get the f out of risk ASAP so I would take it, and the pay is probably significantly better

Nah stay. You wanna make manager quickly so you can stop doing grunt work. Then move to Accenture if you like

If you don’t want to take the offer, feel free to send it my way lmao

If you can go through life working for nice people who support your career you will be very lucky.

like

The issue becomes that those people retire at 60 and if you’re not across the line you may be a ronin. But yea - if you have people you like who support you, that’s a big deal and should weigh in. Some partners are so excellent at supporting the careers of people beneath them and don’t get much credit for it IMHO.

I think if you really enjoy risk maybe stay in it. But it is a specialized line of work that is hard to get out of as time goes by. Strategy would be an awesome pivot from my perspective, I would go for that if I had the opportunity.

like

may i ask what you’d be doing at accenture?

If you have a partner who supports you you might ask for their help to move into a group that excites you more.

You should definitely explore the Accenture option. You can come back into Risk if it doesn’t pan out.

Hi all,

Do firms match offers from other Big 4s for campus hires? I’ve received a campus offer from both
KPMG and EY. I’m more interested in the EY offer, but they are paying 3k less than KPMG.

Would it be a bad move to let them know about the other offer and try negotiating? I feel it wont make a difference in the long run, but at the same time I don’t want to leave any money on the table if possible.

Thanks!

Hi all, I currently have 1.5 years experience in IT audit and am wanting to make the transition to tech consulting. I came across this job posting at D but am not sure if this is a good fit as they are looking for snow dev/imp experience. My experience with snow has been primarily reviewing change tickets captured within snow. I do have an information systems degree. Is it worth applying or am I wasting my time/ setting myself up for failure?

Just got off the phone with a recruiter who asked me what year I graduated from my MBA program and college and effectively told me I was too old for the role. I do have the 1 year of experience they asked for in the job in question. It's just that I have all this other experience in things unrelated to the role or things I want to deemphasize in my next role. Is there anything I can do? I only list the last 8 years of experience (as it's most relevant) and don't have my graduation years listed.

Current comp - 106k base, very happy with my project/team. On track for promo next year. Great WLB (it took a while to get here).

New company - lateral move, 130k base, 15k sign on bonus.

The only reason for me to jump right now would be because of the base pay. I feel like I'm leaving a lot of money on the table with that 24k base pay gap. That's a mortgage for me. Main concern is that I'm scared of risking my WLB.

I just got a verbal offer today which is exciting but they lowballed me with a number that's below the salary range. I showed enthusiasm but did not fully commit to anything over the phone and asked for the offer to be sent in writing so I can evaluate all of my options. He told me they only want to put "verbally approved" offers in writing but agreed. What's the best way to go about negotiating in this situation?
