Currently at Deloitte just got an offer to join McKinsey as well as Netflix. I have 2 years of exp, is it worth it to go to McKinsey for another 2 years and go to business school or should I just exit to Netflix and potentially go to business school?

Congrats, very impressive. Completely different companies though... curious as to what roles you applied for and how you went about preparing. I’m 3 YOE and and trying to get into MBB. Would like to do my MBA in 2 years when I have more work experience.

View from further down the road: consider your likely progression at both, your personal emphasis on WLB (win to Netflix obv) and your comp goals. Personally I would not expect the equity part of the Netflix package to look as attractive as past growth would have you believe. You may find yourself slightly stuck in corporate and wish you had exited later. I stayed in consulting til I felt I had enough “gravitas” to get people to alongside and money behind me to go do my own thing and now probably work 15-20 hours a week for PPMD money.

C2 - I do two things. I’m a partner in a firm that advises family offices on direct investing, which is part deal intro and part execution advisory (I don’t get involved too much in delivery, but a lot of stuff comes across my desk so send it there) and I co-founded a private real estate investment co which is institutionally backed. Unless we’re working deals the latter takes a few hours a week following up on projects we own/are working. It’s enough to keep things interesting without the effort and I now have a good amount of spare time to spend on my bike or taking very long lunches. Finally starting a family at 39.

Business school doesn’t have many benefits for you once you’ve already gotten yourself into the MBB/FAANG world

McKinsey on resume looks great in the long run. But you could always Netflix and Chill :)

Skip more consulting and go directly for the exit (Netflix)

Depends. What role did you get offered at Netflix?

Idk Netflix is kind of past it’s hyper growth. I also heard not the best things from friends who worked there... especially regarding pay and not the best culture

Heard it can be a fairly quick hook to get fired... but that’s total hearsay so take with a grain of salt

MBB hiring like crazy rn so getting an interview is much easier than usual...passing it is still tough tho

Definitely Netflix. This shouldn’t even be a question.

like

Netflix. Even if that means u r not doing “strategy” consulting and sticking to tech. Tech is slowing ruling the world

Following. How’d you get the offers, referrals?

Congrats OP! two awesome options but completely dependent on your long term goals. you can’t go wrong with either.

Netflix unless it’s not a role you’re excited about

I thought the point of MBB was to exit to FAANG… if you’re already at Netflix why bother going into consulting

Hi fishies 🐠 I’m an Art Director that’s trying to transition over to UX Design. I have experience building websites and some previous freelance work doing some UI/UX. What’s the best route to transition over and would I need to apply for entry level roles? Does an AD role with a UI/UX focus even exist? I enjoy the thinking of UX design and am comfortable designing interfaces but I’m mostly unsure of the process of working with an UX team. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hi all, would love to get your opinion on an estimated market rate for a employee like me, as I’m thinking about asking for a raise in January but haven’t done this before. 1 YOE TS/SCI Full-Scope Clearance 1/2 thru Masters program (Analytics Georgia Tech) Been lead data scientist on team for 5+ months 2 AWS and Tableau cert (sorry had to throw that in there lol) I know this is a tough task without all the context but I’m currently making $95k and that seems to be the lowest on my team.

I’m a 2nd year and effectively just ran a deal on my own with the partner. It ran smoothly, I got praise from the partner, and the partner said that they trust me to do most stuff without their sign off (so no need to check with them in future unless I’m really unsure). Generally there is one or two mid levels above me, and I find it way harder to do my job when they are managing me. They like to keep me on the bench, get me to do minor tasks and don’t let me take responsibility and ownership.
