Hi, I’m travelling to Canada on PR status by July 2022. I currently work for one of the Big 4 consultancies (been here since five years). I would like to understand how much weight that would carry when searching for a job in Canada. Would it even matter? Also, can you suggest if it’s a good idea to approach job consultancies? If yes, any recommendations? PwC EY Deloitte KPMG

Joined EY TAS mid-Feb as staff 2 (had 1.5 yoe before in audit). With the October promotion now pushed earlier to August, am I still eligible to be considered for that promotion batch? I understand that I'll finish cycle 3 FY22 evaluation in May and maybe half of cycle 1 FY23 in July... Just not sure how the timing works. Also any advice on how to bring this up to the partners would be much appreciated! EY

100% McKinsey. Barely even counts as resetting. 2 years as A, 2 years as C, and 3 years as SC at Deloitte to make make M. That’s 7 years. Sure, 6 years for you. Now at McKinsey you’d go from BA to EM in 3 years (4 at the BBs) . You’re actually accelerating your career. Of course, up or out is more prominent at MBB.
Not 100% true for Bain. Career progression there tends to be slower than McK or BCG

If you’re getting exactly the projects you want at D, you could consider staying. No guarantee of that at the new firm. If there is any doubt, leave

Dude. Leave. I'd kill to be in your position
I would take the Mbb route. Also, would you mind if I connect with you ? Trying to move to mbb and would love to learn how you got an offer there
What does the salary difference look like between D and MBB?
Chief
It’s not just the salary difference as much as speed of progression. At McKinsey, you can go from Analyst to Partner in almost the time it takes to go from SM to Partner at Deloitte.
Does MBB offer GPS consulting?

Bain doesn’t. The others, yes

Leave and don’t look back. Long term this won’t even be a blip on your resume.
As a former D alumni at the SM level, I would highly encourage you to leave and don't look back. You'll thank me in 5 years when you are turning down McK like I did last week :)
