@vp1 actually perfectly aligns with my goals. Thanks for that, I lose perspective. Teams change, but my goals are still the same.

Ask to meet the real team. Juniors, potential partners you’d work with - not just the interviewers. Get a sense of the real team you’d work with. Culture is important and you can get more money anywhere.

30% can go higher.

I recently made this kind of move. Only on week two at the new place but I’m enjoying learning a new way to use my skill set. But honestly there are days where I question if I made the right decision because I miss my old team so much and I’m not quite on the same level with my new team yet. But go for it, give it time, and if it doesn’t work out then move on to something else

How are you getting a 30% raise? That seems like a stretch.

Promotion to director and a different company. I feel like I'm way underpaid currently

Take the offer back and have them meet you in the middle

Take it

What’s your take on counteroffers? I recently was offered a role at a growing company (Recent IPO) with what looks like a bright future. The downside is it’s a lat move doing sim work with small increase to base but additional bonus and RSUs that won’t vest for 3 years. Main reason I was leaving current role was due to boredom and wanting a change. Recent restructuring at current place has opened opp’s and they countered with a promotion and 30% bump with all new responsibilities/path. Thoughts?

I.e. someone willing to jump ship in a few months? I just truly believe that I
