Didn't have top grades, wasn't on law review. Worked at a midsize firm and was laid off in march-- have about 3 years experience in a hot practice area. Have been applying and had some interviews at larger shops but nothing has come of it. I'm still applying to roles (not many out there) in my area but coming to the realization based on number of larger firm rejection letter that I may not find a role. Where would you go from here if you were me? Was making good money at the midsize...
I am about to transition from being a junior partner at a large law firm (my practice has focused on private equity M&A) to Deputy General Counsel at a large-ish Pubco. I am already giving myself a crash course in public securities and corporate governance from my firm’s training materials and my cap markets partners, but I also wanted to poll the audience for other suggestions on how to become as prepared as possible for my new role please. Thanks in advance!
Hi! I’ve been in implementation consulting for the last couple years but am really interested in pivoting into an SE role. Got decently far with one tech company but ultimately rejected for lack of sales experience. Any advice on breaking into the role without direct background?
I left my role as Director of Engineering a year ago, to take a position in technical sales. I took about a $50k hit on my pay per year but I’ve always wanted to try out sales and wanted that experience under my belt. The position I took was for a key account manager for one auto OEM. This OEM, I worked there for 19 years so I had a lot of contacts there. Long story short, this OEM basically told me that they won’t buy anything from me because they don’t like my product. What happens next?
i recently got promoted to Claims Supervisor position in my company and i was really excited to see how i can handle the responsibility but, while i got the postion and salary i am still doing the job of a claims officer. i tried to talk to my manager about this but he implied that there is no need for supervisor position and i have to wait until my seniors got promoted, should i ask for transfer to another branch?

Are public accounting exit opportunities really that good? I’m a second year who plans on staying until at least manager (obviously could change) but have a feeling I will constantly be asking this question considering I could leave right now and be paid more with better hours.... so is it worth it to stay till manager?

So tired of this company. Like why is it so hard to keep us in the loop with training for new services and changes that are coming our way. I love working with my coworkers, but I’m afraid it’s time to make some tough changes because this business model of using outsourced companies to handle customer service isn’t working. We’re always the last to know about changes coming and we look like idiots when customers call us. Percepta

Is an engagement manager role in Google cloud public sector a likely candidate to be prioritized? I assume since it’s non-tech it’s at a disadvantage, although EMs are certainly contributors to increasing revenue

Hi! The role I interviewed for has been deprioritised. Has anyone else experienced this? This was announced 2days before the hiring freeze.. should I assume the job will be cancelled? Or in your opinion, are roles likely to be open again? This is a non tech role as a Research & Insights lead for Google Apps.

Hi all, I am currently a PM at Schneider Electric. Wanting to branch to PM in tech. I am an electrical engineer by trade with no background in computer science, what type of PM role I should target in my application journey and should I target more hardware based PM roles (as I currently manage a portfolio of hardware products with little to no software) or as long as I can do well during the interview it does not really matter ? Also any resource advise for PM interview prep ?

I’m currently interviewing for a Program Manager role & the recommend level from my interviewers was L4. I have 11 years experience. I’ve worked on large complex highly visible projects for large companies (Fox, Disney, a few record labels). I’ve built out PMOs from scratch & I even launched my own CPG company a few years back & the products are widely distributed. I’m currently a Director of Project Management. For this reason L4 seems a bit low - any chance the level is negotiable?
Googlers, with RTO do you feel like your teammates have been quitting or thinking about quitting? Or are people mostly happy about returning to work? Or are neutral towards it and just doing it? I’m surprised Google is digging it’s heels in given all the negative PR and research on employee sentiment. I know google is such a great brand name that there will be no shortage of applicants even if people quit, but you can’t just have a bunch of new people trying to run your company.
Is it possible to ask for a L4 offer to be up leveled to L5? I have a big compensation disconnect and I’m sure it’s driven by level as the recruiter says they can’t come up any more. Wish I would have known comp and level before interviewing as I would have pushed for the right level to drive the comp I’m looking for….
Anyone who are working or worked as Measurement Lead? I got an offer but the imposter syndrome is kicking in. My past experiences is mainly in Adtech i.e,pixel set up, tag manager mgt, data visualization. Hard skills I have are Python(basic tho), SQL, Tableau.
I am v confident of my tech understanding of the ad products, but haven’t done campaign analysis/optimization for a quite long time. What key skill and knowledge should I pick up to ease the transition? Some basic statistics? Thanks!
