Currently have 5 yrs of experiences in Audit. Trying to move to FP&A but seems like companies are looking for people with modeling and forecasting experiences which makes sense. Should I move into FDD or take FP&A certification to qualify for the FP&A position? Or is there any other option?

Try to build some skills in your free time if you want to move to FP&A imo. You could potentially internally transfer in the meantime.

I did a fdd rotation then took a fp&a job. The issue is that your resume is all audit which looks similar to so many others. See if you can spend time on your resume highlighting certain experiences to make your experience look a little more applicable. If you can somehow prove heavy power BI ability that would be a good differentiator. If your firm gives you a license, see if you can build a dashboard with client data and make some sort of cool deliverable, as a practice run. I am not sure a FP&A certificate does much to move the needle because I don’t know what that is and how easy it is to skim through it.

FDD doesn't do any forecasting or modeling like you would do in FP&A (very common misconception). But there is a lot of data formatting and manipulation that would be marketable for FP&A in the future. Could be worth a transfer if you can't go directly into FP&A now.

I thought that just having Big Four audit experience on your resume was supposed to automatically get you many jobs, including FP&A (especially 5 years)? I thought that was why it was worth it to accept a below market salary just so you could have it on your resume?

This is really helpful! Thanks so much!

my fpa interview questions -

I also did a case study to get my job too. FYI

Difficult to make the transition, but definitely possible. I have a role if DFW that likes audit background for the finance position if you are in the area!

Received a verbal job offer on Tues. $5k short of what I had said was my desired range but still up from my current salary. We set up a call for Thurs to discuss further. On Wed they sent me all benefits info. Thursday on the call I asked if we could either increase moving stipend or get closer to my desired salary. They said no, and I asked them to send over written offer and I would let them know by Fri. They then email they are no longer offering me the position and repost it the next day:
