Need some more info from you: How long have you been at JPM? Is your goal to ultimately have your own book of business as a FA? Do you settle for being on a team of advisors? Do you want to be just support for a team or senior FA? What kind of clients do you want to work with? With what you've written, salary seems to be the issue. As a FA, we look at salary as basically settling for a "top", as compared to working on true commissions and fees where the sky is the limit. If you're young and just starting out, work on finding your strength. In over 22 years of being a FA myself, I have found that the ones who make the MOST $$$, are the rainmakers who can seek out and bring in the high net worth clients. They are not necessarily the ones who can pick the markets or are "good worker bees".
Stay where you are at and get experience with that salary.
My end goal is find a job that is WFH or Hybrid. I saw Fidelity has many positions that offer WFH. I heard Fidelity from a lot of ppl that they really set you up for success by sponsoring you with all your licenses. My goal is to make 90-110k WFH.
What role are you looking at for Fidelity? I left there recently and can tell you expected comp
May I ask what’s the range for stock planning associate?
Series 7 isn’t that big of a deal. Stay where you are.
My advise is Fidelity and get your licenses and certificates.
Let’s face it, it’s clear your in the retail path at Chase and not jpm. It’s going to be really hard to cross line of business and move out of retail banking space. Look at it this way: they don’t sponsor you a 7 for a reason. Even if you’re able to move, it’s going to be CPC advisor, you won’t own any of your clients and I don’t think it’s a good gig.
Get licensed as early as you can, get some experience and it will open up more opportunities for you! Good luck!
I heard a lot of good things about fidelity and wfh options. My goal is after I get my licenses and work for a year then apply to fidelity . I can figure out about getting the Series 7 , maybe negotiate with Fidelity when the time comes. At least for now I’m getting paid to get my licenses and have JPM on my resume as experience.
sorry newbie here what’s an RB?
what are the typical tasks of an RB?
What’s your goal?
If your goal is to get the series 7, how does staying at JP Morgan without it benefit you?
If the answer is nothing, I would suggest to value your time. Why waste a year for something that you can have now, especially if you want it?
If positions are available and open… apply for them. The opportunity available to today may not be available tomorrow.
That being said, do what you believe is right but please don’t waste time… it’s precious
Where do you live making $73K base as a RB?
If you don’t mind me asking how much do you make as a RB in an affluent area?
What’s your base without incentive?
How does the incentive at fidelity look like?
It’s kinda unfair to compare a fully comped position with commission included vs a base pay alone.
