Currently in a Zoom waiting room for a small claims case where I am suing my apartment for an unlawful tow. Been waiting for 1 hour and 45 minutes after checking in during the role call. Send help

I WON MY CASE!! I had previously spent hours going through the Parking Code and gathering evidence (pictures of the area my car was towed, measuring the letters on their signs, measuring the entire driveway, etc). The lady who authorized the tow didn't even show up, so I nailed them on not providing a witness who had a first hand account of the events. They tried to spin some BS with no evidence when I btfo. Now I'm going to sue them for not addressing the noise complaints. Maybe after that experience they will settle.

I don't even know if they have since tried to bring me in for my case but a glitch prevented me from rejoining. What if I lose because Zoom glitched out? Can't believe this boomer stock is at ATH

like

What do you mean boomer stock?

I also had to sue my landlord recently for withholding my security deposit. They ended up settling

like

Exactly as EY2 said - fill out a form with small claims court and they will be served papers A year is way too long. Send them an email that if you don’t receive the security deposit by X date you will file a lawsuit in small claims court. The threat alone is normally enough but be sure to actually file if they don’t send it by the date

How much was the tow? Is it worth this amount of time and hassle?

Nice - many people make derogatory comments about how litigious the US can be but the fact is that a lot of people act like a-holes and push boundaries until you sue them. I had to fight my landlord for months and they only addressed the issue when I sent a letter threatening to sue them

As someone who enjoyed being in a trading role prior to consulting, would you move back? Not sure what the comp would be for a muni bond trader, or if the position is becoming outdated, but trading always excited me.

I work in a group that has had to come in to the office regularly during COVID (lots of work with original documents and wet ink signatures). It’s real estate and title companies still require wet ink documents. One junior has refused to come in because he says he’s concerned about COVID. We all wear masks, close our doors, and socially distance. We’ve all had to pick up the slack for him. Just found out he’s taking his second vacation during COVID and visiting family in FL. I could scream.

Struggling heavily with mental health amid the crisis, due to loneliness and the gradual realization that we're really in this for the long haul and things likely aren't going back to normal for a long time. Zoom calls help a little but not that much and the constant barrage of people talking about 'the new normal' only makes it worse. Any tips/advice?

Considering an expert role in healthcare in mid Atlantic region at McKinsey. Any thoughts about culture, wlb, tc, etc? Have read through a bunch of older threads. Opinion seems mixed. Negatives mentioned include more intense work hours than integrative track, second class citizen, slower career progression, lower pay than integrative, harder to get staffed on engagements, poor integration into teams, and subpar exit opportunities. Also read this is changing. Would appreciate recent thoughts. 🙏

My firms bonus structure is based on “billed out” (what a partner actually bills to the client) dollars instead of actual hours billed. So you can work 2000 hours but the bonus is based on only 1850 hours, because 150 got cut over the year. Is this normal? It seems entirely unfair and makes it impossible to get a bonus.

I think my 2yr old son is having severe social anxiety issues… he is perfectly fine at home, playing and laughing and talking. But outside especially when other people get closer to him (especially small kids at his age) he immediately freaks out, becomes very anxious, and would try to flee the scene as soon as possible. Ever since he’s a baby we take him to play ground everyday and he is still the same. Any moms experienced the same?
