Currently in B4 salt m&a. Do I have a shot with the Houlihan's and McKinsey's firms or am I destined to stay in B4.

Guessing by your title you’re a year or two into your career? You’re not locked into anything and at your point could pivot to almost anything. Fwiw, M&A salt is pretty niche and I wouldn’t expect IB / MBB to be calling recruiting you, but that’s not to say networking / connections / and maybe a detour back to top MBA couldn’t help you make it happen.

like

Doing what (at those other firms)? Salt m&a?

First you need to figure out what you want to do - those are two very different firms. As mentioned above, an MBA reset in a few years could get you where you want.

In our group (nice size super regional firm) we need to keep building out this expertise and have a lot of opportunity. All depends on what you are looking to accomplish long term. You aren’t destined to sit there forever. Just need to find right fit.

Looking for advice. I'm a tax manager that worked at both Big 4 and mid-tier in expat/mobility tax. I want to move away from tax compliance and more into technology. I currently use Excel and VBA for automating processes, and are taking beginner coding classes (Python, intro to programming). What career path do I have? I thought about quitting to do a bootcamp and work as a software developer, but is it too risky? Perhaps I can blend my tax experience and "coding" skills and do tax technology?

I have an offer to a commercial real estate company in hand. My current brokerage (residential focus) wants me to pay $3000 penalty since I’m breaking the contract and leaving. I’m financially struggling and 3k is a big number to pay now. The new job will be paying me $2000/month up until the first year only. Is it wise to pay or stick around in residential sales just to avoid that penalty?

What are peoples current mortgage interest rates in the US and when did they start?

I'm from the UK and looking to move the US sometime soon with a view to buy and currently on a 1.4% interest rate on my UK property secured about 12 months ago for the next 5 years (so a good time to do it).

But seeing much higher interest rates mentioned on here so curious to get a temperature check on people's current deals.
