Currently in federal core tax group - if you had a choice between tax technology consulting and M&A tax, which would you choose? I'm looking to get into the higher paying groups.

Had an interview just now and will be getting an offer for tax tech. I think I don't want to do technical tax for my career, so if the number is right, I may just take it and try to pivot to tech consulting down the road.

What comp did you end up getting?

Just moved to M&A .. haven’t got my comp package yet since it was internal and it’ll happen I’m guessing in October but work is already better. 10/10 recommend

Yeah, small consulting firms will give you a chance and it’s a quicker process than trying to do that internally. Then once you’re in the industry you can leverage your prior experience at B4 to land a better job

Hate conference calls that drag on for hours.

Part of the crowd. The briefcase doesn't show in post details though.

Hit rock bottom (for me). Delivered system training when I am not in an IT group or have an IT background. I finished to find two invitations for interviews in my inbox. #darkestbeforethedawn

Confession: I'm a new mom traveling and nursing my baby (pumping at work). I'm starting to think the reason I still nurse is to leave the 20 person conf room and go sit in a quiet room for 20 mins.

Anyone have a good system at managing/tracking warranties? I feel like everything has some kind of limited warranty but I never save or record anything and probably waste a lot just buying new again.

Any tips on how to better multi-task? I’ve reached a point in my career where I’ve to juggle leading big engagements (10-15 consultants), the occasional proposal and other completely miscellaneous things. Realising that it’s actually getting really difficult to keep up, be on top of content enough to cover well in meetings, focus and properly address all the problems coming my way and it’s completely stressing me out, and leaving me feeling inadequate. Any multi tasking masters willing to share?

Whose the genius at McKinsey that advised CNN to make CNN+ and spend 300 million on this failed experiment? I’d love to hear the business case. They expected to bring in around 2 million subscribers. And these are the titans of industry?

For the way back machine: in the early 90’s, when traveling internationally, did US credit cards work? Specifically, would US credit cards work in the Bahamas? If they didn’t work, how hard was it to call the credit card company and get a hotel in the Bahamas cleared for charges? Would travelers be stranded without the ability to pay for their hotel if their travelers checks were taken and couldn’t be replaced before their return flight home? Were wire transfers prohibitively expensive?

Anyone have any insights on the Bain 8 minute digital interview? I know they say it’s about 8 minutes long. But does each question have a specific time limit or do you have 8 minutes to answer all the questions? Also what type of questions do you get?
