Hey all, currently at a healthcare consulting firm and by all accounts I’m killing it (less than a year in from undergrad). Since I’ve been filling in the role of someone who is now a manager, I’m asking for a raise… what number should I be shooting for? Looking at Huron, Guidehouse, etc for comparison…

I work in inside sales selling data center hardware to commercial customers. I have the opportunity to take a new field sales role (w/ same company) selling DC equipment to federal government customers. My concern is that I will be stuck in the Federal space and it will be difficult/impossible to ever pivot back to selling in the commercial space. My longterm vision is to go to sales/sales management at a startup. Think this new role helps, hurts, or makes no diff?

Looking at Saas sales for supply chain/planning software as an account exec. Base is low so I’d have to bank on commissions. Anyone in a similar role concerned about hitting targets with looming recession and possibility of low conversion?

I’ve learned my boss is moving on to new opportunities, and there isn’t any plan to refill their role, which will leave me as an HR team of one. I don’t have the experience to fully take on all the work, but plan to give it my all.

Random Tangent: After year end results were delivered, staff received meager 3.8% adjustments, which is far from the news reports of 7.9% USA inflation. In short, essentially everyone in the company just took a paycut. And yet there's bafflement in the C suite when we see less than a week later a handful of key contributors leaving.

How to negotiate salary when you’ve given them a range? I recently panicked and told the recruiter my expected range. If I get to the offer stage, I assume they will offer me the lower end of my range and of course I don’t want to sound ungrateful or greedy, but is there a way to negotiate to a little higher?

Btw I would be fine with the lower end of my range if offered, I’m just curious because I gave a range and not a hard number, is there a way to negotiate?

Annual reviews are held September thru October at my current company. I started in July so I did not receive one last year. These reviews determine promotions, raises and bonus amounts. Earlier this year I received an added responsibility of managing someone and it came with a small salary increase.
