Currently live in NYC, got an industry offer with a 4% pay raise but new role will be in Princeton NJ. Better work life balance but I’m single in my late 20s. Bad move or good move?

Hard pass on living in Princeton for sure

ZS2 real recognizes real

As someone who grew up in that area, I’d say most people move back there in their early thirties. 4% pay raise isn’t that much as that’s an expensive area in NJ. I’d rather live in NYC/Hoboken than go to central jersey until I have a family

I personally would say no, unless you want a better WLB for starting a family, the job is stressing you out, or this is where you see yourself for a long time. There’s no correct answer, but to me, without clarification, I wouldn’t.

Well there’s your answer!

4% seems like a bad move even if it’s not about money.

Are you interested in living in or near Princeton? I’ve been to both before and the feeling between these two places are just so different

I’m definitely more interested in NYC since I’m single but the company agreed to sponsor my permanent residency in a few months so green card wins 😂

Was invited to apply for a lateral in another group at my company - transactional (I’m in lit now). I have a lot of experience in what I do now and am getting good development opportunities within my group. However, I’ve been passed over for a deserved promotion 3 times and am doing work two salary bands above where I am now. I enjoy the transactional work even though I have less experience in it, and it would be a great resume builder. I am not great with risk taking/change. Wwyd?

Bit of a unique situation. I think my offices FDD team is falling apart. Since covid, 1/1 partner resigned , 2/3 of SM quit, 2/2 managers quit. I’m a bit concerned with deal flow moving forward. At what point should we be reducing 401k/IRAs and redirecting to the taxable account? Otherwise our income balloons late in life. Curious how others are managing this.
