Has anyone recently made the switch to in house and now feel unorganized and less productive than when billing hours? For what it is worth, I’ve received good reviews and my superiors seems to be pleased with my work. Litigation was just so task based because of needing to hit billables, so without that requirement I feel a little like a fish out of water.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good recruiters for someone going from a law firm to an in-house position?

Can anyone explain what an associate would do in-house at a PE firm?

Are there any in house entertainment roles that are particularly good? Netflix is obviously FAANG but I’ve heard the culture is cutthroat. On the other end of the spectrum, heard the traditional TV networks pay terribly. Any other options? What about in house music roles? Is that a thing?

I am applying to some in-house positions at tech companies and was pressed in one screener interview to say what I thought my base salary should be. I’m curious what an acceptable answer would be?

I have 6 years experience in Big Law. Focused primarily on patent litigation. Applying to roles in the Bay Area. Primarily applied to roles focused on general litigation and IP litigation. I’ve applied to tech companies ranging from FAANG to start-ups.

If you handle data privacy, but it isn’t your main in-house role, do you have some data privacy title designation? If so, what is it? I’ve seen “Legal Counsel and Data Privacy Manager” used.

Can you have good WLB while working in a small (<10 attorneys) legal department? I’ve only ever worked at large companies with large legal departments. I’m worried taking vacations would be hard at a very small company since there are fewer people to cover for you.

I crafted a mix of goals related to contract turn-around time being under a standard time, being within approved budget, and some other measurable spend related goals and was told by executive team the goals need to be more “quantifiable” (which is a stupid criticism since these are all quantifiable/objectively measurable). Looking for other suggestions.
