Unless the offer is for jump in title, 15k seems a little low to make a lateral transition. Almost seems worth it to wait it out to manager then jump ship for higher salary. Good luck
I hate to be cliche and this is only my opinion but you have to go with your gut. Are you ready to step out of the hustle and bustle of consulting and go to a more focused position with specific tasks and take on more of a leader role, ready to deal with people issues (assuming you have direct reports)? If so, then go for it. this sounds like a great next step. You were already headed to a manger position so landing senior manager in industry is a pretty good next step for your resume and career. However, if you feel you want to wait another 5-6 months to get the consulting manager title and think that can land you better opportunities with the preferred pay scale, then waiting might be worth it. Honestly, can’t go wrong with either and if negotiating means getting you just a little closer to your requested pay, then you did the right thing. Even if they can’t completely meet, if they want you enough, they will wiggle just a bit and that itself is a good sign to move. You will figure it out but congratulations getting this far. Good luck.
City? Feel like that matters
I’d go for 30%, $30K
